Reading this book I noticed that not many students had internships at those companies (the book tells us when a student interned) beyond the St. Louis area. Are there any student or students parent that had the opportunity to get internships through the Career Center?

That book is absolutely worthless, no clue why they continue to waste money printing and shipping it home. There are plenty opportunities outside of St. Louis, but I'm guessing most students don't use the internship reporting form to tell the career center after the fact.

I agree with oncampus, the book is worthless and the whole Career Center should be replaced for something more functional to the student body.

case in point about Wash U's recruitment

collegebound9696 - good post - fits right in with your inacurate post concerning which companies recruit at WashU. By the way you never did respond to your total lack of research on that post.

If you look at collegebound's post history, he frequently makes uninformed posts, misuses statistics (I should know; I'm a stats major), and completely rash opinions that people just bite and run away with.

It seems like most people on the WashU thread are educated enough to ignore his bigotry.

I just started a new thread that answers the question of whether big time companies recruit at Wash U.

Back to the 2008 Internship Recruitment Book, while I agree with some of you that the book wasn't that helpful, at least it provides some guidance/ideas as to which companies have given internships in the past. WashU is the only school I have heard of that takes that extra step to help the students. Most schools just tell you to go to the career center and look through their postings. As a parent, I am continually impressed by the efforts that WashU goes through to support and guide their students.
