The 25 Best Film Schools

Wheaty dear
watch it, haven’t you listening?
there might be a kid who can not leave home/can not afford
and had to turn down Ivy which s/he did as celebratory apps (I happened to know few of these kids) but had to settle for nowhere states/cities.
you and your (secret) elitism had to be put in your secret pocket!!

tho I have to agree that, they gave Brown and Wes Fs, because there is no core.
I mean, if kids could get in those, their HS course loads well exceed what those A listed colleges might “require”. now talk about apples and grapefruits.

Bears,

Oh come on, even East Tennessee State grads would call this silly. Brown = F, Harvard = D, East Tennessee = A?

Yeah, sure.

Others might love this “tool” but we probably won’t be relying on this for our application process.

Grrr, ruff, rufff, rufff! :)

Wheaty

Don’t forget to read the fine print under the core subjects in regards to the GE requirements for each institution, on the What They Will Learn site. I believe the point they’re trying to make is that the core curriculum of each institution is not the same value. Those schools allow the students to take basket weaving instead of math so to speak. Therefore, are you learning any math or math related elements under the core. As an example, for one of the schools, no credit given for Mathematics because the Quantitative Symbolic, and Computational Reasoning requirement may be satisfied by linguistics courses. No credit given for Foreign Language because students may fulfill the requirement with elementary-level study. No credit given for Natural or Physical Science because the Science and Technology requirement may be satisfied by courses with little science content. So the question, is the degree from college A is worth the same as college B? Perhaps it’s easier to graduate with an A from basket weaving than to graduate with an A in math.

and not all basket weaving are the same. apples and bamboos, rattan and recycled plastic bag strips.
try getting A on this sort

now I am confused, are you supporting its criteria or against it?
either way rest assured that Chapman got B!!

You forgot to list Ringling! Here’s the info from the same article:

Ringling College of Art and Design

Ringling’s 4-year-old Digital Filmmaking program, where Werner Herzog teaches, just graduated its first class, and already they’ve got two Student Academy Award winners. At the Sarasota, Fla., campus, you direct commercials your first year, documentaries the second, narratives the third and a thesis your fourth. U.S. News and World Report called it America’s Most Wired Campus, and digital animation is strong.

TUITION $16,140 per semester

DEGREES BFA in a range of disciplines, including computer animation, digital filmmaking, game design and photography

NOTABLE ALUMNI The school just graduated its first class last year.

“Ringling helped me transform from just a kid who liked playing with cameras into a true, narrative storyteller. It is too early to tell how much of a career impact it has had, but I’m only three months out of an undergrad film school and have had meetings with producers at MTV, IFC, AMC and Screen Gems.” – Recent graduate Jason Letkiewicz

@ bears and dogs: My dd (the Ringling student) is learning Mandarin and is so taken with the language and culture. She took an advanced course, “Modern China”, during her first semester. It is an upper level course with heavy content and focus on the political, social, cultural aspects of China. She would jump at the chance to go to Beijing!

^l knew it was skipped either by accident or subconsciously or intentionally, but I didn’t make fuss because this is a film turf, and if RISD being in there won’t satisfy parents, it would be long shot for Ringling which just about graduated first digital only class.
no offense but I can almost hear that non-art people going
“what? isn’t it a clown college?”

congrats, maybe yourD can be the foreign babe II !!
