The AP exam freak out thread:oARG!!!

Lit will screw up my AP scores. Grr! On the last practice MC I only got 36/52.:(

do you guys know the approx. number of mc questions you need to get right for chem/physics/stats/us you need to guarantee a 4 or 5 , provided that you dont bomb the free response?

QQ, MC is the easier aspect to raise (timed writings are much more difficult to improve). Do you know what your specific weaknesses are?

For chem, I think you only need a 50% or so to get a 5. For stats you need to get a raw score of 68 to get a 4, so for MC only that's about 30 questions (provided to do ok on the FR).

Chem is around 60% for a 5.

Probably reading the passage too literally. It's if a poem, I sometimes have trouble grasping the deeper meaning even if I've read it like 5 times.

if i only have time to study one prep book for each subject, which woud you guys recommend (chem/physics/stats/us)?

Well which subject is the most important to you?

I'd probably recommend physics, since it's one of the harder subjects. Are you taking B or C?

if i only have time to study one prep book for each subject, which woud you guys recommend (chem/physics/stats/us)?

Chem - PR

US - REA

I am freaking out, big time. I have AP Comp, AP US, and AP Bio. The first I'm pretty ok with, because we've been doing MCs and Essays weekly since the beginning of school. Bio is my big problem. I have no clue of anything that we've covered, and can only hope to get a 3 with PR and Cliff's. Oh my gosh........I feel like I'm having a panic attack.

Yeah I have APUSH AP and USH SAT II (neither of which I'm worried about--78/80 on today's study session practice test :))...hmm Im pretty worried about the FR's for calc AB (any tips?)...and then chem...all my other tests are done by May 6 (SAT II's as well), so i figure I'll cram for 4 days and bust out a 3 maybe? again, suggestions? basically, once may 10th rolls around I'm completely checking out, so i guess that's something to look forward to. good luck all! be confident!

78/80? That’s awesome. You must be a US History aficionado. ;) I guess the best way to prep for FR Calc AB is just to do more problems. You don’t have to write lengthy explanations or anything, so just stick to the question and be concise.

I so long for the third week of May, after the AP juggernaut is over. I am taking 6 tests:
1) AP Bio (not too worried, although I feel like we did not learn as much detailed info. this year as required on the AP, but hopefully, Cliffs will save my butt)
2) AP Stat (a bit queasy, but okay - reviewing with Barron's)
3) AP Spanish Language (the one I'm most worried about. My Spanish teacher is so incompetent. We do not learn anything at all in that class and no one feels the least prepared - argh! I have to memorized so many words and work on my listening and writing skills, although the speaking section I feel will be the most problematic)
4) AP English Language (ah...nervous about this one. Although I like writing, doing well on this test means reading and writing extremely well)
5) AP US History (also fearful on this one...too much info. to remember - although I am going through the AMSCO book. I am scared on the analysis questions on the essays)
6) AP Physics (I feel okay, just need to review concepts, which are a lot)

So as you all can see, I am destined for failure on the first two weeks of May.

I think we figured out in AP Bio that if you answer every single MC question and only get half right, and then get a 5 out of 10 on each free response, you will still make a 4.

I'm mildly freaking out about Calc and Bio, as these are the two I really do not want to have to take at UT next year (especially Bio - 8 hours of credit to be had!). Not as concerned about Micro and EngLit because well they don't involve much studying, even though I'm self-studying for Micro :P

Do you guys have any tips for how to study for the net ionics or the lab/color questions on the AP chem exam? I never know how to figure out what products will form, or what color certain reactions will form.

Ivorykeys, I'm just going for rote memorization on the colors and practice, practice, practice for reactions (luckily, we've been doing them all year long).

What book is everyone using/does everyone like for Calc AB? I have ARCO and I'm almost done with that, but I had initially planned to do Barron's and PR. I don't think I have time left for both of them, so from which one would I benefit from using at this point?

Just finished PR for Macro/Micro.....need a bit more practice on micro to up my chances there and just started US Gov....now only if that comp gov book would get here soon not much time left to sift through 200+ pages. If all goes well i should be able to pull off a 5 on macro, 4 on micro, 4 on us gov, 3 on comp gov, and 3 on lit. Hopefully :D

For calc i have PR and i think it's great, especially for a quick review of concepts.

aaah freaking out
we have 4 mock ap tests for bio starting on wed but only m/c and im going nuts
and we have 2 mock ap tests for world on the next two fridays
im seriously going crazy rite now

we had a PR chem test for chem, only I've already taken it twice (i have the book) so it was basically a waste.

for calc we have to take a released ap exam for the final!...if you don't get a 3 you fail the class. however, whatever you get you get that much added to your grade in extra credit. I pity the person who gets a 2 (probably me), b/c our teacher will be like "good news: you brought your 93 up to a 95 in bonus. bad news: you fail the class" haha.
