I know there are probably very few people who are taking AP World History right now, but wth... had to do it :P

Gosh... Study for this exam is killing me... I have so much homework that I don't feel like studying by the end of the day because I am tired.

haha, me too... i'm currently reading chapter 6 in the Barron's book. :P

I cannot read the Barron's Book... It is sooo boring! I just finished taking the practice test from the Barron's Book... I would say that was a "DIAGNOSTIC'S TEST"... I had 31% correct =( I need to start studying!

Also, what method you use for studying? Do you just read through the Review Book, memorize facts, or what?

I use the Princeton Review but my question is the same as Murrrah08's

i'm just reading straight-through, taking the little quizzes at the end of each chapter. i have a really educated worldhistory teacher who gives great lectures (thankfully).

I have PR aswell. I'm self studying btw, plus taking the AP Euro class at school. I only started self studying March, however I am stil not passed the middle ages.

I figure that all I really need to do is study Asian history, and then read the PR for everything else, and study my AP Euro stuff.

Anyone have a different strategy?

Good luck guys!

I took the exam last year as a soph and I'd really recommend Barron's, however boring it may seem. If you can force yourself to sit through Barrons and do those little quizzes at the end of the chapter, you'll be fine. Use PR for a pre-test review.

PS. PR practice tests > Barron practice tests (Barron's essays are ridiculous).

I'm curious, whats your strategy day-by-day? How do you effectively spend that 1 or 2 hours you spend each day to study your AP tests? What tactics do you use?

yah, i know. what is up with the barron's essays. The examples are about 7 pages long.

I took this last year as a sophomore. The hardest part is that there is SOOO much information. Know all the themes and how to recognize them as well as how you're suppose to write the essays(Ex:# of docs in DBQ).

I got 70% right in Barrons book, what sort of score should that yield me. My essays are usually pretty decent.

Barrons is very boring. I'd say you should try Sparknotes, which makes studying "fun". (no, I'm not kidding, it's really fun :) )

Can you self-study WHistory AP with just a prep book and get a 5?

A-San, I never did really have a strategy for self-studying. I just sit down, read Barron's (sometimes several times to make sure I remember the material) and do the little quizzes at the end of each chapter. When May approached, I started doing practice MC's from Barron's (they're decent) and practice tests from PR.

Willmingtonwave, if your essays are not bad, you are pretty set for a 5 or a high 4.

Cooljoe, yes, that's what I did, and I'm sure many people did the same too. World History is not exactly considered a "hard" AP.

I read the PR book, and afterwards only staring at the themes I would recite all the information that pertained to those themes. It took me about three hours/day to review. Of course, I am still doing this as I face a full AP midterm tomorrow.

Well, let's get the Study Thread going... We are going to follow the same guidelines as The AP US History Study Thread...

Post the answer (Make sure you put A: before the answer)
Then, post another question (Make sure you put Q: before the question)

Let's begin!!!!!

Q: Who was the last emperor in China before China became a republic in 1912?

A: Pu-Yi

Q: What famous meeting of Catholic Church cardinals/clergyman worked to correct the sins of the Church such as indulgences/simony taht occurred in the Middle Ages?

A. Catholic Reformation... uh... Council of Trent?

Q. Who proposed the idea of "self-determination" after World War I?

(do we really have to know that Pu-Yi fact?)
