The AP World History Study Thread

What are the main revolutions that we need to know for AP WH??

Neolithic Revolution, Agricultural Revolution, French Revolution, American Revolution, Latin American Independences, Russian Revolution 1917.

i really want to take this next year but my school doesn't offer and history = lots of info that i would otherwise have to memorize by self-studying...=[

BUT FRENCH REVOLUTION SOUNDS LIKE AN AWEOSME TOPIC takes out library card

yeah..French Revolution..bourgeuiose drove Louis XIV out, 3rd estate revolted, storming of the Bastille, then Robespierre's Reign of Terror, then an attempted democracy, then Napoleon's quest for conquest, then his defeat in Russia and at Waterloo, then finally a democracy, i think lol..

no after Napoleon, the monarchy was restored, and then Napoleon III took the imperial throne, and then finally after him a republic was formed, and then not until 1940s France became a democracy. Im 99% sure on this, correct me if im wrong

nvm im pretty sure ur right

Knowing exactly what happened isn't very important but it does help a whole bunch.

Also important:
Maritime Revolution
Haitian Revolution (Perhaps more important than American Revolution)
INDUSTRIAL REVOLUTION (!!!!!)

Minor ones that could help:
Cultural Revolution of China
Various revolutions for Cold War and accompanying proxy wars

lol whoops forgot Industrial Revolution..

also, along with knowing what the french revolution is about, it is also important to know about the global impact...
liberty, equality etc

anybody nervous??!

im not :) I just took practice test and got -1 in MC, and my essays were pretty solid. Self-studying is so much easier than taking the course...for me i slack off less when i self-study :D

sigh i wish i could say the same.

I took the course, and i realized it was COMPLETELY useless, and my teacher taught me nothing other than "the fall of constantinople was in 1453.

So i got PR and Barrons, and have just been cramming. My test is officially in 3 hours ahh!

i hope the essay topics aren't hard.. any predictions?

I'm not good at predictions but I do hope that the essays focus more on the 1450+ time periodsd. Anything below that is so gonna screw me over. And hopefully nothing about China. For some reason I can never remember information about them.

Also, can someone give me a run-down of the Russian Revolution and also some info on the changes in China's government after the break-away from dynastic rule?

Oh! And there aren't usually essays on the foundations periods are there?

Ok.... I'm not very sure in those areas also, but I'll give it a try:

Russian Revolution:
-Russia loses the Russo-Japanese War -> people start revolts
-Tsar Nicholas abdicates
-Lenin takes over during October Revolution
-Russia pulls out of World War 1 (Brest Litovsk treaty with Germany)
-Lenin establishes mass socialism, land redistribution, new economic policies...
-Red and Whites fight in a civil war, Reds win
-Russia establishes a marxist state...

(I'm probly not including a lot of stuff)

China:
I think Dynastic China ended with the Manchus????????? I'm not sure though... But anyways, China also evolves into a communist state under the leadership of Mao Zedong...

I have a question..
how is the grading for AP world scaled?
like how do you find out your score? is it in the study books b/c i can't find one in barrons or PR..wella tleast after each practice test.

Chinese Dynasty ended with the rule of Qing Dynasty in 1912, overthrown by Nationalist revolutionaries like Sun Zhong Shan. Although after the nationalist revolution, sectarian conflicts remained strong. One such warlord named Yuan Shi Kai took over the nationalist government shortly after the death of Sun Zhong Shan and declared himself as the emperor of China. The declaration only met with a wide spread opposition in KMT (nationalist party). And by the end of the year, Yuan Shi Kai was defeated by the combine force of nationalists and communists. After that, Jiang Jie Shi came to power and preside over china till 1949 when Mao came came to the dragon throne.

can somebody explain how muslims affected africa?? and also can someone elaborate on the arab nationalism and iranian revolution...??

to akvareli: this is how u figure out ur grade:

MC-
[# correct x (.25 x # wrong)]x .8571

Essays-
DBQ grade out of 9 x 2.2222
COT grade out of 9 x 2.2222
Comp grade out of 9 x 2.2222

Add them all up (don't round until the very end)

The score ranges vary slightly from year to year depending on the curve (at least I think so). But these are the ones from...Idk when. But it should give you a good idea.

78-108 5
62-77 4
43-61 3
27-42 2
0-26 1

I Just Took It And Finished It Yay

How was it?
