The AP World History Study Thread

My DBQ was 5 pages and my COT and C/C were both 3 also. But I BSed the last two :P

ditto!
my BS was all factually acurate....
but it was NOT organized at all!! it was more like

balbalbalb..... and oh YEAH! blblabla. and how could i forget balbalbalbal
(with more professional conjunctions ofcourse lol)

my dbq was 2 pages and my other 2 essays 1.5

4 page DBQ, 3 page CC, 2 page COT (ran out of time....). Then again, my handwriting's pretty small and I wrote to the end of the lines (not skipping to the next line when you're an inch away like some people).

bump? 10char

My dbq was 4 pages and the others were 2-3 pages

I am taking the world history AP this Thursday… and I am SO nervous.
I don’t know if it is just at our school, but the trend ever since they started this course is that the grades have been getting lower and lower and they have been making the test more and more difficult. Like the first year the course was offered at my school, half the kids got 5s and the other half got 4s/3s. But last year, only two people got 5s and most got 2s/3s…
So following the trend, our class’s grades this year are going to be even lower :/

Does anyone who took the test last year have any advice?

Well, all I can say is that I took the test last year and thought the MC was pretty hard. Everybody pretty much agreed that the two FRQs were also very difficult and kind of obscure (I don’t really remember, but one of them was on trade on the Indian Ocean).

So, I think the curve was pretty generous last year, because I got a 4 and that’s with two FRQs in which I didn’t really know what I was talking about. I think the DBQ saved me. So my advice would be to try your best to nail the DBQ (It requires no outside knowledge), and even spend extra time on the DBQ if necessary.

I have to take the late testing. Only have Barron’s to work with and text book.

At least with my essays that we do in class I always get 8/9s. My teacher says he tries to grade just as hard as the AP, but who knows if he actually does.
It’s the multiple choice that I’m worried about.

@ KevRus: How hard was the mc in 08? If you’ve taken the 2002, 2007, or 2008 audit would you be able to compare it to that for me?
thanks

Dude, I just pooped on that test. I’m pretty sure I got a solid multiple choice score, because this test seemed easier than the 08 test I took in class, which I got 41 points from after calculations. I’m pretty sure i got around an 8 for my DBQ because those are always graded easy, and probably solid 6’s for the other two essay questions. I was expecting it to be alot harder, but then again i’m thankful.

How did everyone study for the exam? Mine’s in less than a month, so I’m getting really stressed out. Did you take notes, or highlight, or just read it? I am so jealous of the people that can read something and have it memorized in minutes >.<

Hey hey peeeps :)

Im wondering if your teachers mentioned anything about some essays topics predictions or which time period/themes/topics to focus on this year?
Or your own predictions, analysis.

Do post it up!

sorry if this is random.
but i think i am completely screwed for this. my teacher didnt even get us through 2/3 of the book (world civilizations). she gave us only one essay for practice, no practice tests, and her score average from last year’s students was about a 3.1 (supposedly)

So now, I’m self studying the rest of the chapters using PR. My question is, should I review the older material so I have a better grasp of the information? Or should I continue self studying the new material, which more of the exam is on?

honestly, i havent even read the textbook at all and bs-ed my way through the class, but i do have some basic knowledge of the earlier stuff. help? :(

^ Read a review book, from front to back. It can be done in 36 hours. :)

I’m staying home from school tomorrow to read my 5 steps to a 5 (it’s like the shortest, least-detailed of all the review books) while skimming Barron’s and reading the Barron’s unit overviews. I’m also going to read the cram packet. :D

@LetsSmile: My predictions are posted here: <a href=“WHAP essay predictions? - AP Test Preparation - College Confidential Forums”>WHAP essay predictions? - AP Test Preparation - College Confidential Forums;

I have a question! I’m doing review project for my AP World class. The topic is “Compare forms of western intervention in South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia from 1750-1914.”

I was wondering if anyone could tell me what they think the ambiguous “western interventions” phrase means. Imperialism? Or more than just that?

are the released tests worth it??? Does anyone have them and is willing to send them? I really need a response to this quickly because if I do order them it needs to be today

Bump. We should turn this thread back into its original intention of being a study group!
