Mexican rice is good, but I must say that Chinese fried rice beats it.

There’s this rice called arroz con gris (grey rice w/ black beans), it’s really good! I’m not Asian, I’m Cuban, but since we love rice too I thought I’d contribute :)

MODERATOR’S NOTE: Keep in mind that you are not allowed to post in languages other than in English, or in “shorthand.”

@Rolando I’ve never heard of that before, but it sounds really good :P

@jsk You can make ramen less salty - just don’t put so much seasoning lol

@enfieldacademy lol We’ve had our rice cooker for years and never bothered to get a new one. It still works really well, though. I’ve only used that though - I’ve never actually boiled rice or made it any other way.

@elf4EVA we’ve had our rice cooker for the last fourteen years but it finally gave out and died. We got a new one that is so high tech with all its buttons and whatnot and I have no idea how to use it. O_O

@Swinter lolol Our rice cooker only has one button (“cook”). I know, so hi-tech, right? Not…we’ve probably had ours for over ten years now.

@ elf4eva, I didn’t mean to offend you, sorry! Does your username stand for super 's fandom or the makeup brand? If it’s three fandom then I’m proud to say I’m an elf too :D

Rice!!! Indians eat a lot of rice!! I usually only eat it once a day…:):D

@squishytofu Yes, my username does stand for SJ’s fandom. I am a proud ELF!! Super Junior fighting!

I’m Asian, and 99% of Asian stereotypes don’t even apply to me LOL.

Except I’m Korean and eat rice and kimchi almost every day. .____.

No one at my school even knows what Kpop is. I said “Super Junior” to someone and they were like “wth is that your dog’s name? o__O odd name to name your dog…”

I love their choreography for SF&S! Who’s your bias? Oh did you see BoA’s mv, dance version? I was amazed by her dancing.
I think half of my school knows kpop, even though I don’t talk about it with a lot of people. I prefer spazzing on tumblr lol. Does anyone here watch asian dramas?

@gomdorri

Same here, I’m kind of the stereotypical Asian nerd, but that’s about it…

Nobody at my school really knows about kpop either (Caucasian-dominated). I did manage to get a few of my Asian friends to like it, though. Still, most people think I’m the weird Asian nerd who listens to Asian music and does other Asian things with her other Asian friends lol

@squishytofu It’s soooo hard to have a bias, because they’re all so amazing in their own way (I know how cliched that sounds, but still…). If I had to choose though, probably either Kyuhyun, Donghae, Ryeowook, or maybe Sungmin. Or maybe Eunhyuk, or lakdjfldkjfaldkjfalkdij I can’t decide!!! To your other question, I love Asian dramas but just don’t have the time to watch them. I watched a couple Taiwanese dramas this summer, and they were literally the only thing I could think about for that whole week lol

My school’s Asians know a lot of kpop and I have some friends utterly obsessed with them. Some of my white friends like kpop also surprisingly - it’s very catchy. I don’t listen to kpop that much - I listen mostly to Michael Jackson, Queen, the Beatles, and the Jackson 5/Jacksons.

I know it’s impossible to pick a bias. My first bias was eunhyuk, I didn’t really have a choice because my friends called the other guys first already lol. But now I love them all! Haha, I love dramas, I think I’m more into dramas than kpop. I’ve watched since I was a child, true asian right here lol. Oh do you listen to other groups?

I think we’re talking about too much kpop -__-. Do you guys have traditional asian parents?

Sent from my SPH-D710 using CC

Yeah, my first bias was Eunhyuk also (because of his blond hair in the Mr. Simple video lol), and then Leeteuk, and then it kept switching from Kyu to Hae to Wookie, so I really don’t know… You watch them on variety shows/reality shows, get to know them, and realize that you love them all equally.

I also listen to Big Bang, SHINee, 2NE1, B2ST, MBLAQ, Ukiss, and many many others, but on to another topic

I am a second-generation Chinese, so my mom was pretty “traditional” in elementary school (as in she bought math and English workbooks and forced me to work through them every day) but backed off in middle school (which is probably why I was such a slacker in 5th and 6th grades). Now she’s strict, but not in an overbearing way. She doesn’t monitor every second of my life, and I’m glad, because if she did, I’d probably become less motivated.

Haha, that’s one thing I love about kpop. You actually get to know the idols more through shows. I love the same groups as you! Haha, not too into ukiss though, never really listened to their music. I’m not into the rookie groups either because I’ve been too busy to keep up.

About my Asian parents… I think it’s because they don’t know English that’s why they aren’t strict with my education. Sometimes I wish they would push me more. I understand that it’s my responsibility to take care of my own future. But when I see friends with parents helping them with college searches and advising them about college, I can’t help but feel jealous. My dad probably doesn’t even know when I’ll graduate. My mom doesnt like talking to me about my future. I discussed wanting to become a doctor with her and how hard I would have to work for it. Her response was to tell me to stop thinking about the future and all she wants is good grades from me. It feels like I can’t even plan ahead, because she doesn’t even want to talk about it. I’m going to be a junior this year and I would like to think about future plans and have a nice family discussion about it. Besides education my parents are pretty strict. I mean I can’t go out with friends often. The only time I would go out are for club events(rarely) and once a year? Each time I ask for permission I get nagged at and then I just give up. Well yeah, that’s my rant haha.

My mom and I speak English together, even though she lived in China for most of her life (I lived there until I was ~6). I wish she’d speak more Chinese to me though. I can understand most of what she says, but still, my speaking skills are not very good :(

Haha, I was born in Vietnam and came to America when I was 6 too. I’m starting to forget how to speak Viet. I want to learn how to write and read Viet again. You’re lucky you could communicate with your parents. My parents refuse to learn English.

My parents speak Chinglish to me. I wish I could speak some dialect other than Mandarin, but my parents come from different parts of China so the only dialect they share is Mandarin. When I was in elementary school, my parents forced me to do a couple pages of a math textbook so I could get ahead, but now they’ve completely given up on that. (Even though it’s finally paid off and I’m glad that I did that.) When I asked them to play with me, the only game they would ever play was about who could calculate math problems faster mentally, so I would always lose. My parents are always nagging me to be a doctor or lawyer of some sort and they ALWAYS compare to the person that went to Harvard or Yale. It’s ironic because I was really upset that I was a whisker away from a B in gym and they just told me to shrug it off.
