I became inspired to start this thread after stumbling across the "Desi Thread" (also on HSL). So, my fellow Asian CCers, start posting! :D

I’m a fellow Asian here on CC. What to talk about???

Asians eat a lot of rice. It has been a tradition for centuries to eat rice with lots of other food like vegetables, meat, etc. I eat on average 5 bowls of rice everyday. I know I’m fat. How many bowls of rice do you guys eat a day?

I eat lots of rice every day. Actually, I don’t really. Depending on the day, I can eat no rice, or I can eat 2-3 bowls. I also shop at Asian markets, listen to Asian music (KPOP FTW!!!), and eat lots of Asian food. However, I don’t have many Asian friends, so many of my non-Asian friends regard me as some sort of saint or something . . .

Hm, I don’t know if this is all Asians, but Vietnamese people eat in these really small bowls. They eat 2-3 bowls at every meal time. That’s what my parents do. But I just eat from a big bowl because I’m too lazy to refill it. I eat two bowls of rice a day.

I’ve actually cut down on my rice intake. I only eat about half a bowl a day. You guys do realize that when you’re eating rice, you’re just eating pure carbs, right? If you eat multiple bowls a day, that’s going to impact your weight.
Contrary to what many asian parents say, rice does not make you “strong” - only protein/calcium can do that.

Brown rice is a little better, but only because it has more fiber.

This is funny lol. A good way to distract me from the 250 words esaay I’ve been stuck on. Anyways, I have to eat at least one bowl of rice a day. I feels weird not eating rice. Also I’m viet and our family eat in small bowls. I usually eat 1-2 bowls, depending on the accompanying food. What kind of food do you guys usually eat with rice?

I just eat one for dinner. Rice can get kind of annoying sometimes, and is slightly overrated.

Yay rice for breakfast, lunch, and dinner!! KPOP FTW lol

I make rice milk sometimes. Usually ends up as horchata… -_-

… and someone said kpop???
<(゚▽゚)>

I love rice! I’m Filipino so I love to eat it with my hands:)

omg please no KPop. It’s way too hyped up among the asian girls I know

I don’t see a problem with kpop lol. Maybe because I am an asian girl haha. I usually don’t go around mentioning kpop to strangers though. I only mention kpop when asked about what type of music I listen to.

This thread is hilarious :).
I’m chinese, and I take my rice steamed, liquidy, sticky, fried, and (once) baked.

Indians eat a lot of rice too! Haha. Our rice is kinda crazy with tons of things mixed in, but it’s delishhh!

@Juvenis Nobody at my school even knows about kpop. If they did, I doubt I would like it so much lol

@squishytofu I usually don’t walk up to random strangers and talk about kpop either. I figured that kpop can be categorized as something Asian, since this IS, after all, the Asian thread.

@Chidoribird @twentythirteen I normally only take steamed rice, and occasionally fried or sticky :)

Just finished eating a heaping bowl of ramen. YEA. :)

OHMYGOSH!!! I totally forgot about ramen!!! Yeah, ramen is basically the extent of my cooking abilities, so when I go to college, I’m probably going to live off of it.

Lol I refuse to eat ramen. The last time I had it was like 2.5 years ago.

Ramen is too salty. -_-

i used to make brown rice in my fancy rice cooker a few times a week. it was the one cultural thing i could relate to asian people about - the quality of their rice cookers :).

Of course, Mexican rice is superior >:)
