The Atlantic & College Board Writing Prize

Hey guys,

I came across this competition “The Atlantic & College Board Writing Prize” and I really, really would like to write an essay as I’m found of history in general.

As I’ve not studied AP, I don’t know what sort of essays are written in APUSH (which is what this competition’s essay should be like, to the best of my knowledge, as seen in the advice given in videos on the competition’s website). So my questions are:

  1. Could you please give me some sample AP US History essays (preferably marked) ?
  2. Or could you please tell me as to what sort of essay would be considered good/excellent in this competition?

I’ve written essays in Eng Lit which were argumentative but of course that’s totally different from AP Us History essays. So any guidance/resources for better preparing for the competition would be great!

I’m a home-schooled student so I do not have any teachers for APUSH who could guide me for the competition.

Hey, did you end up submitting? Finalists are supposed to be announced mid-May and I’m surprised they aren’t released yet.
