I know there are several Americans who go to Canadian colleges, and I was wondering what first attracted you to these colleges versus American universities. Thanks for any replies.

I would think money would have a big thing to do with it. The drinking age attracts some.

canadian schools are much cheaper, about 10000 a year. and they rank pretty high.

The money is definitely a big part of it. Plus, I'm a Canadian citizen, so I can get a great college education at a place where the tuition is less than my high school's tuition. I love Canada anyway, especially Montreal. :)

I've been seriously thinking about applying to university of british columbia and mcgill next year, as well as some of the us colleges. I think it's an unbeatable price, but I have no idea how I'm going to convince my dad.

Another thing I liked was that admissions is much more numbers based- no essays, no recommendations, and I don't even think they ask about ECs. Of course, that depends on the person whether it's a benefit or not.

I went to visit McGill University this summer and I loved the campus. I thought it was so cool that there was all this green and open space right in the middle of an awesome city.

I like the numbers system, I mean, who cares if you were on the chess team? I think US schools put too much emphasis on EC's personally.
