The best boarding schools...help...special case

Sold. See you there.

Sorry, but 11/12 is too young for the prep schools originally mentioned. While she may be able to handle the academics, the social pressures will be too much. Classes only account for 6-7 hours per day. Will she fit in during the rest of the day. Athletics are mandatory for all students (club level) and can be quite competitive. I would recommend continuing her education without considering these prep schools until she is of similiar age to other 9th graders. If she then is admitted, she can continue to take advanced classes. When I arrived at PEA as a 9th grader (prep), others in my grade started in college level math. As seniors, those students were attending classes with 1-3 students. The schools listed can help you go as far as you want but they won't take you early.

I'm taking a class with seniors right now :) Most of them are nice to me, and I have some friends who are that old. But I can't imagine going to boarding school with kids that much older than me, there would always be some jealous haters who don't like younger kids being smarter. I wouldn't go at 11/12. It's really not that hard to score better than 60% of seniors on the SATs, you have to factor in that almost every kid takes them, even the highly unmotivated ones. Last year I scored better than 74% and a couple of my friends were also in that range...

Thanks for all the good info, you have been a blessing with all your good responses. I am torn because now mommy feelings are kicking in and im wondering If i should let her go. But If it was me I wouldnt do boarding school. i would go to Mary Baldwin college after seeing some of the mean girl posts I realize the environment and the type of kids at bS and our lifestyle may not be conducive to BS lifestyle. D Day is tomorrow so I will see what happens and we will pray about it and see where God leads her...

I have been considering three schools, namely, Tabor, Taft and St. Georges. Can you give me opinions on the three because I am very confused as I have to reply by 10th April.

How would you rank the schools overall? Academically and athletic wise?

well… what were the results?
(sorry, just curious).

personally, i wouldn’t want to go to bs at 11/12.
while she may do well in school academically, how will she do socially?!
yes, academics are important at school, but so is a social life.
idk how well students at bs will accept her no matter how open they are.
she may not be ready…
just my opinion though!

Yeah, I want to know the results too…

I think she posted it on one of her other threads. One of them got deleted, though.

omg, i would not be able to go to boarding school at 11/12…

This came from her list in the Master List of 2009 Acceptances topic.

Damn, a school with a 55% acceptance rate and average SSAT score in the 65th percentile. I know that CC makes anything below an 85% look bad, but seriously, this woman thought her kid was a ****ing genius.

i would not go to boarding at all…
even if i got accepted to a boarding school…
i mean, 11/12?
that’s insane…

@Tom. They did not accept her because she was a homophobe, remember the other thread. I guess the *******s of this world finally realize that their stupid viewpoints will get them… nowhere.

Have fun at this school “rampant with lesbianism” (in the words of the OP).

Oh, wow. If her child takes her views, then she won’t be going anywhere in her life with even a 2400 in 6th grade.

Well she clearly did not get a 2400, haha. Of course she skipped grades, and classes. No way her math SSAT could be so low if she was in precalc. And her Verbal when she was in AP lang… no way…

DEFINITELY Phillips Academy Andover is the best. You can never go wrong with this choice.

^maybe, but she did not get in. Last time I checked homophobes were frowned upon.

I went to Lawrenceville at 12 in the 8th grade…big mistake!

To my knowledge, Ontario has highly flexible pre-university system that suits the needs of international students. I’m not certain which one is the best boarding school here but you can go to http://www.cic-totalcare.com/en/OntariosEducationSystem.php</a> to learn more about why Ontario is a good choice.

:)

Seems like a ■■■■■ to moi
