I've never heard of Flagler or Goucher....... So I would choose Emerson :) heehee

Well, I got rejected for first semester at Emerson :(... BUT accepted to start in January 2007. If I decide to go to Emerson, I think I will (hopefully!) study abroad during first semester. I am deff still considering my other options though!

i think that's a good option. i think emerson is a great school and studying abroad for a semester would rock.

...it doesn't rain half the year in Florida

days when it "rains," it's like for 5 min anyway

AHHH i still can't decide!! I got waitlisted at Flagler :( but I am REALLY gonna try to get in. If not, I have Goucher and Emerson. The thing is, if I want to study abroad first semester before I begin at Emerson, I need to sign up/apply/deposit BEFORE (probably) i hear from Flagler if I got in or not!!! help meee

I have been following your post and was curious as to if you visited Goucher and what you thought of it. My s is curious about it and as of yet we haven't been able to visit. Any reflections you would care to share would be interesting to read about! Interestingly enough, he stumbled onto Flagler as well after reading about it being a "best buy" fpr a private school somewhere. He is just beginning to think about the important things he wants in a school and with the exception of one big school, he says he thinks small would be good. He is interested in art, creative writing and at times biology. Thanks for your help!

I live in New York, and Flagler is currently my number one choice because I wanted to go to a college that wasn't specifically religious, but was still conservative and not a party school. I also wanted to be somewhere warm (Who doesn't? :-) ) I went down in February for a visit and it was very cold and rainy (I was wearing a coat!) The campus is literally right in the middle of the St. Augustine town (which is like something out of the Renaissance with all its cobblestone streets and beautiful architecture). The campus is small and it takes like 15 minutes to walk from one end to the other. The girls dorms are in the Ponce de Leon hotel, which basically means that everything is beautiful until you actually get inside one of the dorm rooms and realize that it's just like any other college dorm room. (Although there are no community bathrooms where you have to walk down the hall just to shower. I have also heard that there is no air conditioning :-( .)
Although the dining room is gorgeous (think Harry Potter) I have heard that the food is terrible, not to mention expensive, not to mention that all students on campus are required to have a meal plan, and to cap it all off you are not even allowed to have refrigerators or microwaves in your room. When I went to visit, I was very disappointed that I only was given a tour of the place. I was not allowed to sit in a class or stay over night or talk with a prof. In fact, I wasn't even allowed to go into the building that holds the classrooms! I had traveled all the way from New York and I left without feeling like I'd learned anything new!
Going into communications myself, I've heard that Flagler has a good program in it. I don't know details though. When I was there, they said they were going to be renovating the girl's dorm. Oh, and girls and guys are never allowed in each other's residence halls, so this is not the place to go if you don't like strict rules.

That's pretty much all I know. If anybody else has any detailed info on Flagler, I'm dying to know!

Unless there's a hurricane it almost never rains for more than 15 minutes at a time here in Florida. That said, Florida's weather sucks hard most of the year. Extremely hot and humid in the summer, but the winters are awesome.
