The Bill & Melinda Gates Center opens to CSE undergraduates next quarter

(Sorry, not related to admissions, but nevertheless a big event for UW CSE students. )

You can see pictures and plans of the building here: https://www.cs.washington.edu/supportcse/cse2/gallery

On Jan 7, 2019, the first floor of Gates Center will open. The first floor of the Gates Center is dedicated to CSE undergraduates! In that space you will find TA offices, interview rooms for meetings with recruiters or skype calls, new undergraduate computing labs (with big windows!), etc.

A key feature of the first floor is an Undergraduate Commons dedicated to – you guessed it – undergrads! This space will be accessible to CSE majors only via cardkey behind the magic glass door at the east end of the Gates Center atrium. There is lots of soft seating, a small kitchen, a large communal work table, a Help Desk, lots of whiteboards, and gigantic windows with loads of natural light.

Other floors of the Gates Center (research floors and teaching spaces) and the Microsoft Cafe will open gradually over the next few months.

Now the UW CSE has Paul G. Allen Center and Bill & Melinda Gates Center.

Come on, Jeff Bezos, the next building has your name written on it
