@moms, dads: How was the admissions season this year? Better or worse than expected? Did you get any big FA, merit aid, or scholarships? I like to know which colleges give out generous aid. Any sports your kids got recruited in?
@rhapsody17: I’ll answer your questions over the summer after all is said and done. Here’s a teaser response to your FA, merit aid, scholarship question: YES.
To other parents of the BS class of 2015…how are campus re/visits going? Is your child still undecided?
Campus visits are 4/16 and 4/19…and then D2 will hopefully have decided!
DS is headed to UPenn on Sunday. I’m expecting that will fully reaffirm his desire to attend. To be honest I really feel like he is going to see classmates who are already there and to get away for a few days. I don’t envy him the bus ride. I’ll be stunned if he comes back and wants to visit somewhere else.
Go Quakers! Hail Pennsylvania!
Yes, Go Quakers!
@rhapsody It seemed a good year overall for college admission, I heard lots of good news from Ds friends, but it gets very complicated as a parent after spending down to a nub paying for boarding school, and getting offered LOTS of merit aid from multiple schools…… but also getting accepted to school of dreams which of course does not offer merit aid.
BS culture seems to tilt more toward going for status vs. merit aid. So much for retirement.
S1 committed today, and we are soooo very happy. I actually cried.
A perfect fit for him, and a generous merit scholarship means I can retire before age 90.
GMT: What truly excellent news! So happy for you. Congrats to GMT Son One! I bet even Bad Kitty is doing the happy dance! <:-P
Hooray, GMT!!! Congrats to S1!
Congrats GMT!!
@GMTplus7: So now you are retiring at 89? Like me?
@SevenDad, let’s review this in 2 years when we find out what the “damage” will be w GMTson2 and Sevendaughter2…
Congratulations GMT and GMT S1 !!
Looking beyond 80…

Great news @GMTplus7 !
D2 decided today! And said that she feels this school is a better fit than the ED school she was rejected from. Very exciting!
Congrats to Sudsie Daughter! Sudsie, you must be relieved to have the decision made!
Congratulations Sudsie and SudDaughter !
Yes, congrats to Sudsie and SudsieD – and all who are done with this process after four long years of BS (bs?).
This thread is in danger of going to the second page!!
