Again, they still have ALL those intangibles that @Mumfromca listed. Sounds like a totally more sane quality of life to me.
Seems a lot better in France or Germany. Quality of life, longer holidays and cheap housing.
I could do France!

For whatever reason, English speaking countries have a tendency towards housing bubbles. Canada, Australia and the UK all have problems with this. Good incentive to learn another language!
Good thing Russia is off limits. Had a few housing bubbles of its own! According to what some of my colleagues said.
Didn’t China also have some RE issues?
Just don’t move to Canada! Which is interesting because that’s where the subject of the original article lives, with her lazy job.

San Francisco
The average annual household expenditures in San Francisco total $91,290, according to the BLS. Probably not too shocking, Redfin estimates housing costs in the city at an exorbitant 202% higher than the national average.
Of course, that’s not all that’s more expensive in San Francisco. Utilities (33%), groceries (30%), transportation (37%) and healthcare (29%) are all more expensive in the city, according to Redfin.
San Francisco earned a “C” rating for violent and property crimes on Niche. The latter was especially notable, as burglaries, theft and motor vehicle theft were all above the national average.
