Has anyone else seen this guy's posts on The Choice? I wonder what folks think about him as a candidate for Williams. I was particularly put off by his complaining about how the college process was the hardest thing he has ever done and how annoying it is that so many schools require supplements. Oh, and how he falls short in terms of grades and ECs but is applying early to Williams not because he really liked it but liked it better than other options...

I only read the linked column but I think he sounds bloody brilliant. I think his thought process is quite sound. There does not have to be a eureka moment. I wish him luck.

We all know God created Harvard on the eighth day.

Sad. He shouldn’t be applying ED. Williams is a terrific school, but very different from Georgetown. Since he isn’t in need of financial aid, he should be applying to a variety of schools and decide in the Spring. Georgetown also has EA instead of ED for Williams.

As an ED applicant to Williams, I sincerely hope he reconsiders his choice of application. One of the big draws to the school, for me, was the fact that students at Williams are there out of choice, not compulsion. His frustration is understandable, but if he is genuinely confused about his first choice school, he should think twice about his ED school. lacrossemom makes a good point – if his second-choice is GTown, why not apply to their non-binding early action program?
