the computer science major about new york university

hello,everyone!
I’m a student who wants to apply cs at NYU.But I found that nyu poly has become nyu tandon already…so I’m wandering does the original computer science department at NYU still exist?Because I see there are still two different rankings about nyucs on us news

There are two ways to major in computer science at NYU.

One way is through NYU College of Arts & Sciences (CAS), where you would major in CS at the Courant Institute of Mathematical Sciences. You can get a BA or a BS there, and you can also do a joint major with either mathematics or economics if you want.

The other way is through NYU Tandon School of Engineering, where you can major in computer engineering, computer science and computer engineering, or computer science (a BS program).

Any rankings you see on U.S. News are graduate program rankings, which are not directly translatable to undergraduate major rankings. First of all, the things that are important for graduate education are not necessarily important for undergrad education, and there are lots of things an undergrad would want that a grad program ranking doesn’t include. Second, as an undergrad, you are going to get a wide-ranging education; yes, you will major in CS, but only about 1/3 of your required classes will be in CS and you will actually spend most of your time out of the department. That’s different from a CS graduate student, who will likely take all of his classes and get all of her advising in the department.

That said, the ranking you see for “New York” is the Courant program and the “Brooklyn” one is the Tandon program. There are graduate programs at both locations.
