The Countdown to Pi Day: Dun Dun Dunnn

site isnt loading :P

No, just thousands and thousands of hyperactive nerds all trying to load onto the site at once, not to mention all of the computer types who are trying to hack the system.

926 means 926…the server overloaded.

Are the minds of MIT adcoms a stochastic quantum system ?
That is up for debate (we could probably make a distribution of results which suggests this)
but my guess is no.
I doubt poor Mr. Peterson is crazy enough to both reject and admit a student (mentally) at the same time.
A much better analogy is a die that rolled a week or two ago … in a box. It has been waiting for you to peek inside ever since…

He is a really great guy though…

Rejected. Now I can go get some sleep.

wait no. rejected.

site won’t load…****ing my pants!!!

Oh, Canada!

Let me see my rejection so I can go to bed!

ace1293 really???

Dear blank,

The Admissions Committee has completed its review of your application, and I am so sorry to tell you that we are unable to offer you admission to MIT.

Please understand that this is in no way a judgment of you as a student or as a person, since our decision has more to do with the applicant pool than anything else - many of our applicants are not offered admission simply because we don’t have enough space in our entering class. This year we had nearly 18,000 candidates for fewer than 1,800 offers of admission, from which will come our 1,100 freshmen. Since all of our decisions are made at one time and all available spaces have been committed, all decisions are final.

I am very sorry to bring you this disappointing news, and I wish you the very best as you continue with your education.

Sincerely,

Stuart Schmill
Dean of Admissions

Oh no rejected!

@vitolob: ugh, same here :/

lol part of me’s hoping that there was a glitch and everyone was told that they were rejected and i really was accepted. but yeah, no such luck.

:( Now to wait for the UPenn and Columbia Rejections. Hopefully I atleast get in to UC Berkeley

I still cant get through… Any good news?

How did you get through?

…rejected…
it’s odd how suspenseful opening the decision page felt, when this was the least surprising decision by far.

i dunno. i’ve gotten through a couple of times to be repeatedly rejected. woot :P

Rejected. Oh well, Congratulations to all admits!
