The Curve???

Hey all,

I was curious as to how students are graded at Tech. I've heard rumors that every test is graded on a bell curve, so only top students receive A's instead of your grade jsut reflecting the amount of questions you answered correctly. Could anyone tell me how it works for sure?? Also how tough (amount of work, depth, number of test, number of labs, average grade, etc) are Calculus and the sciences at this noteworthy institution? Which core requirement science is the easiest? Thanks for the help

If you don’t have to take it, and need a science for the science requirement, be warned about Biology 1510 (biological principles). It’s an interesting class, but it’s the most time consuming of the core sciences, in terms of homework, studying for tests, and labs.

Physics (classical) has the best (easiest) labs, but is a moderately difficult class. Chemistry (gen chem, 1310) has the most time consuming labs, but probably the easiest of the three classes. Bio 1510’s labs are in between physics and chem, and it has the most reading material of the three (as opposed to conceptual understanding and practicing for physics).

Good luck!

There maybe a couple of grumpier old professors only get a couple of A’s in the whole class, but for most courses ,that’s no longer the case.

Check the web site below.

[Grade Distribution by Level](http://www.irp.gatech.edu/apps/Grades/Grades_by_Level.cfm?TRM=200908&mode_display=percent&id=000000)

Also, there is breakup down for each courses somewhere on Ga Tech web site as well. Of course, there is a web site that rating the professor.

I know that Ga Tech has this brutal tough reputation (i.e. look left and look right and only one of you will survive at Tech). That maybe true in the 70s and 80s, but that’s no longer true.

Thanks for your responses!!
