The Dean's Achievement Scholarships

<p>So I missed the whole Emory Scholars deadline and such (I wouldn't have made it anyway, my high school record isn't that great). When I get to Emory, I'd like to apply for The Dean's Achievement Scholarship. If you follow the link that I have provided, you will find that they are looking for students who "have demonstrated unusual capability through involvement in the academic and extracurricular life of the Emory community." What exactly are they looking for, what should I be doing if I want to be eligible? As for the extracurricular life requisite, feel free to suggest athletics, but that isn't really something I excel at, so please provide other means to fulfill that area of the requirements. </p>

<p>I would encourage you to apply. Emory is one of the few schools I am aware of that sets aside merit scholarship money for students to apply for after first year. My D was lucky enough to receive this merit scholarship. In addition to paying $10k a year, the student can apply for summer study abroad and receives all the percs of Emory Scholars. Good grades, contribution to the campus, etc. go a long way. Good luck. I just got back from visiting my D at Emory and I continue to be more and more impressed. I love this school!</p>
