The Demise of the Cav Daily

Ok, so everyone has probably already heard, but the Cav fired Grant and hes no longer running a comic. Well apparently, everyone else who writes (almost everyone) for the comics quit when they heard the cav fired him. Alicia (author of Its a Lemon) was flipping out at lunch today about the whole ordeal. Some were saying it will be the demise of the Cav Daily.

They ran old comics from 2005 because one of the former artists broke into hq and took all the recent comics so they couldnt run them, damn.

So what do you think? I mean, its not like people really read anything more than the comics :).

Su-Do-Ku.

As long as it remains, all is well.

~OHNOES~ the sky is falling!1!!

Well, darn then. Also, I thought the author of It's a Lemon is named Elisha.

so you do realize half of them live in brown, plus it was us brownies' idea to call the fire marshall on that protest. anyone who knows grant (ie: brownies) know he did not mean it the way it was misconstrued, so we pretty much are pushing the free speech side of this now. i'm sure it would be entirely different if grant had had ill intentions. btw, i know there is now a webcomic form of at least one of the comics that is no longer being run but i'm not sure of the address.

Malex, yeah, i couldnt remember how to spell it. I thought it started with an E, lol. Its pronounced the same anyways.

Hazel, yeah, i know, thats kind of my point. I was eating in the Brown room as usual when I heard the story. Something like 2/3 or 3/4 of the writers of the comic live in Brown, so Im not surprised that its a sort of community effort to push for the free speech of an artist, and I fully agree with their reactions.

Also, the webcomic your talking about is Elisha's. "Its a Lemon" is now online, but I dont know the address either. Actually it was always online, but now shes going to start updating it more frequently. It would be interesting if all the old comics went online, Grant's included.

cav daily won't die. ever. end of story.

so a few people quit it's not like the entire staff quit. I don't see how that will lead to the cav daily's demise as you put it ehiunno.

jags I whole-heartedly agree, sudoku is all I need to get through a lecture

haha, im not saying it would die, im saying a number of people were saying it would, so i thought i would start intellectual discussion about it

Long live the University Journal! You know there was a time when UVA had 2 competing daily newspapers. I miss the Cavalier Daily vs. University Journal rivalry. Too bad the UJ died off in the late 90's.
