The different schools within Michigan---What happens if you want to change majors?

My D attends a private southern university. She likes it but is now thinking that she may want a larger, more rah rah school. She was waitlisted at UMich, but then they sent her an acceptance letter for Sophomore year. So she can easily transfer there next September.

My question is that she was accepted in the LSA School. Right now she is an applied Math major. So being in the LSA school works, but what happens if she wants to switch majors? I always have concerns with schools that lock in students to a specific school of study from the beginning. How difficult is it to get into the Businness School?

I would love to hear everyones ideas about these schools.

Thanks

Most UM students don’t even declare a major til end of sophomore year. Switching to engineering or nursing or business is another story but no problems switching within LSA. You have to apply separately to Ross. I think the admit rate is around 40-50%. It’s pretty tough to get into.

The Ross admission rate for sophomore is around 40%. Other cross campus transfer are easier.

Ross is three years and even if accepted couldn’t begin until Fall '17, so she would be there four full years if she went that route.
