The Downside to Being an Overachiever

What I see people doing is putting more effort into things when it's not necessary. An A is An A!!!!! If you have a 92 or and 99 it's still an A

It's certainly nothing to panic about, but people aim for higher in case they bomb something. It's easier to get a B if you had a 92 to begin with. That or they're just crazy.

Saying an "A" is an "A" seems to ring true gradewise, but I'd rather be the smarter, more hardworking person who gets a high A because I have a strong grasp of the information, than that kid who barely squeaked by with a 90%.

kids who get A+'s usually do so because they are obsessed with their grades and look for a sense selfworth in their grades. kids who actually care about learning do just as well and generally do not care about their grades in the obsessive way that overachievers do. they still want to do well and get good grades but it's not important for them to put in the meaningless work it takes to go from an A to an A+. an A-, A, A+ are all the same thing. no college will pick someone over someone else simply because one person had an A+ average while another had an A average.
