Today, I was cleaning my room out for the winter holiday, and everything was going great until my drawer was stuck. It was crooked because one end had the thing under the wheel, and the other had the rail over the wheel, like it should have been. So I tried to pull it out and out it back in to fix it, except that wouldn't work because it is attached to more wheels on the back, and I also noticed that one of the wooden supports under the drawer was hanging on it's super glue. I couldn't tell my RA, because I was in the process of leaving, but I'm thinking about just using my super glue to glue that part back on. But about the crooked thing, what should I do? And is it a good idea to super glue that one part? I did nothing to break it. All I ever do is open and close it. All the other drawers under it are JUST fine. Should I tell my RA? I'm so scared. I don't want to get in trouble, and this is such a bad way to start my holiday. Please help. What should I do?

Why would you tell your RA? Surely there’s a way to request room repairs via the custodial staff. And why in heaven’s name are you scared? Stuff breaks. This is a big nothing and you overreaction is concerning. Are you always this anxiety ridden?

This would not be a superglue type repair. Probably requires some type of construction adhesive, and possibly some small brads or screws as well. I agree to follow the university protocol for requesting repairs as you do not sound equipped to fix it yourself. This is a small inexpensive repair, probably no parts needed, unless the wood is cracked. Call the dorm staff, if anyone is there over break, or housing if not, and ask them how to report this. They may get it done over break. In general, if you are responsible and report this sort of wear and tear to get it taken care of during the year, you are much less likely to be charged for it than if you move out at year’s end with unreported damage.

Stuff breaks on occasion. There is nothing to be scared about. I wouldn’t inform the RA. I’d inform the housing maintenance department. This is what they are there for. You sound like you’re freaking out over this, and I can assure you that this is incredibly minor and nothing at all to be concerned about.
