The enrollment deadline for U of Minnesota is May 1, but I won't get more app decisions until May

I have two more app decisions waiting from Washington and UAustin (both are sometime in May, not known exactly when), two rejections, and one acceptance from U of Minnesota that has a deadline to confirm enrollment as May 1st.

Am I missing something here? How am I supposed to choose between the 3 colleges if the time to enroll at the only one I’ve been excepted to runs out without any time for me to decide?

If you get an acceptance after you’ve committed to one school, you can withdraw from the first school and accept the new offer.

National Decision Day is May 1. That’s the agreed-upon date by all colleges for students to put down deposits.

Are you perhaps on the wait lists? And is it Washington University in St. Louis or University of Washington or Washington College in Maryland? And do you mean University of Texas at Austin? Because UT Austin notifies of acceptances/rejections by March 1.

If you are on wait lists, you must select a college and place a deposit by May 1. If you later learn you are admitted to another school off of a wait list and you prefer that school, you can withdraw your commitment to the first college. You won’t necessarily get your deposit back.

University of Washington and UT Austin
They’re both transfer apps, so it’s May for a decision for both of them.

Ah … didn’t know it was for transfer. Ask Minnesota if they will extend your deadline. Tell them you are still waiting on other decisions.

This happens to a lot of transfer students and grad students. It also is this way for waitlisted students.

If you like U of MN, and you have no other. acceptances by May 1, pay your deposit there. That way you do have someplace to go.

If you are accepted somewhere else later, and you decide you like that place better than U of MN, pay your deposit there, and let U of MN know that your plans have changed. You will almost certainly lose your deposit.

If you get accepted by #3, and you decide that you like it better than #2, pay that deposit, and cancel with #2.
