The essay and the word count

I have 502 words when I include the title and 498 without the tittle. The school that I am applying to says that the word count is important because it shows that a student can follow direction. Should I cut it down to 500?

Do I have to write the number of words at the end of the essay?

Do I have to write the number of words at the end of the essay? I am sending it by regular mail, should I put the prompt in a separate sheet of paper? Like a cover page?

Yes, cut it down. I am sure that you wont have a problem cutting it down by 2 words. Just substitute words like In spite of to however or something. Write the word count, though its not totally necessary. Cover page, you dont have to. But you can, even though you are killing more trees lol.

I cut it down to 500 W + the title

I would rather kill a tree than letting the admission office kill me or kill my essay lol
Thanks wannadartmouth
