<p>I have two questions about copy pasting my essay into the text field on the common app:</p>
<p>1.) Does the essay have to have a title? </p>
<p>2.) I have the titles of two books in my essay. Since this formatting is not supported should I use html to make it italicized (you know, <i>title</i>)---or should i not bother?</p>

<p>1) No, maybe you could if you wanted though.
2) I wouldn't try it. I had two book titles in mine, and being a perfectionist, it really bothered me I could properly italicize or underline. I considered HTML, but was afraid it would turn out with just the raw input. Colleges know Common App lacks formatting though.</p>
