are they optional? or can we write topics of our own?

I don't that the prompts are optional.

hmmm, but it says "Possible Topics". I'mn referring to the Harvard supplement, just in case I'm unclear.

you can write about whatever you want (or don't write anything at all)

yes they are optional, just like the essay

thanks!

but for the essay, if we choose to upload a document, do we still have to keep to the 2000 character limit specified for the manual input field?

no i dont think so. The uploaded documents are limited by the size of the file...

haha, I know that, but I'm just wondering if Harvard would be ****ed. The 2000 char word limit cld be there for a reason.

thus, you could try to stay within (or at least close to) the limit ;)

I don't think Harvard adcoms are going to sit there and count the number of words in your esssay, so as long as you don't give them a novel, you shud be fine....my harvard optional is almost as long as my common app ~600 words...so hopefully they aren't too stingy about that word count thing...

oh I do hope so man.... 2000 char is like wad, 300 words? hmmm, henas you do you know you're doing double the limit right?

I'm still v confused abt it. why would they give a 2000 char word limit for one version if we're allowed to break it if we uplosd a document? by right there should be NO preference or advantage given to either manual input or document upload, so logically the 2000 char limit should apply equally.

any expert/current undergrad can help with this?

bump... help, anyone?

bumpbump, thanks!

Can you write about any topic you want or just the topics they suggested?

You can write about any topic, it seems.

The main issue here now is about the 2000 char limit - whether it still applies if we upload a document.
