<p>actually, the curve of grade versus quality is an inverted U (i.e. a concave function). the goal of the exercise is to check whether you can write competently and coherently. too-artful writing confuses the chipmunks who grade these things (i doubt they are the hum profs, though i could be wrong).</p>
<p>Actually, it'd probably be better if you check with the humanities department, just in case they use the same prompt for the makeup test (which is given upon arriving in September).</p>
