<p>I heard that elite universities tend to defer minorities who are still wanted because if they immediately accept them, people will assume it's AA program that gets them in. That's what I heard.</p>
<p>Welll....hmmm? How is the rigor of your courses? Are you taking the initiative to do academic work both offerred within and out of your school--like maybe online classes or something? What is your class rank? what are your SAT II tests? </p>
<p>Hmmm...mexican american. I am puerto Rican...I believe that Harvard has many mexican american applicants but fewer puerto rican applicants since we compose a mere 1.9% or less of the student body. I believe it is about 5% for Mexican Americans. I heard at some site that one year at Yale, Puerto Ricans "enjoyed" the highest acceptance rate of 36%. Obviously Harvard will be less but I wonder..........</p>
<p>Everybody from my school (myself included) who applied EA got deferred, despite some amazing credentials. I think they're waiting because we're internationals and we always have a lot of people who apply (both EA and RD) so they want to compare us all. </p>

<p>As for my study tactic: I just got the blue collegeboard book and did a practice section every other day with a stop watch. My issue really was time. Accuracy is not bad but time renders any accuracy useless if you cannot answer questions. For example, on the ACT:</p>
<p>on test I got a 24 in English (I did not finish at all)</p>
<p>on test 2 I got a 30 in English (I almost finished)</p>
<p>personally, if time makes that much of a difference then I think that all these tests are CRAP.</p>
