FBI College

The short and skinny: they hire students who just graduated from college to work as support staff in D.C. or Quantico.

My question: Has anyone done this? How many people make this a year? Would you recommend applying?

thanks :)

I suppose it’s not a bad gig.

Personally, I would only want to work for the FBI as a Special Agent and not support staff. While working support staff may eventually lead to a 1811 position, you could use your time more effectively in my opinion.

You must understand that a good portion of government hiring is “check the block”.

Personally, I don’t think it’s that bad at all…I actually like the idea of it leading to an 1811 position, as to be a Special Agent you must fit within a set of criteria. Yes, I’ve been told it’s a lot of “check the box” – especially when it comes to whether you have a degree and what degree that is – but in my opinion this would be a good way to fulfill the work experience requirements for the 1811, and to get your foot in the door for that position in the Bureau (you’d get to know people, policies, etc). Again, this is in my opinion.

Has anyone done this program? Any comments/advice? :)

this is the first I’ve heard of the program… interesting. Unfortunately, I know nothing about it.

A lot of people join the FBI with no intention of entering the 1811 job series, btw. You can make a fine career, all the way to GS-15, in those other career tracks. It depends on what interests you.

I would obviously recommend applying. If you interview, get the offer, talk to them about it, and decide its not for you, then you can always decline.
