The Final 2: NU+WashU

This is also posted in the NU board...

I seriously need some advice. I have wittled my choices down to 2 and I'm having the most difficult time choosing. I've visited both this past weekend for their respective programs and everything seems to blur. Can anyone bring some insight to my problem? Here are my pros and cons for each school...

Same for both
-great classes (ranging from large lecture to smaller discussion classes)
-strong departments
-undergraduate research
-a name for life after college
-a vibrant city offering many resources
-cost
-extremely nice people

WashU

Pros
-campus organization (classes are in one place, dorms are in one place)
-great dorms
-great food

Cons
-I live in St.Louis (although i'm not sure I mind)
-Only 15 AP credits (already have 9)

NU

Pros
-not in St. Louis
-the quarter system (i kind of like the quarter system)
-No AP limitation (I think)

Cons
-the dorm i stayed in (isrc i think) was "okay" but not as good as WashU, and the whole being really involved in your dorm so that you can get a better one and that you're only "virtually" guaranteed housing...
-separated campus (i'm not sure if that's really a con)

from my friends at NU, I've heard incredibly bad things about the housing system... a number of people were left without housing, etc, so it's definitely a HUGE plus for washu. Where are you from in StL? I'm from StL too, but I actually didn't get bored sticking around for another 4 years. Granted it's not a whole new city to explore, but my friends and I explored areas I hadn't spent much time at in high school. Plus my parents would bring my car up for some weekends... that makes you friends really fast :) As far as the separated campus, I never disliked having my dorm so close to campus. Actually, I would have preferred closer, to reduce the trek to whitaker! If you're sick of being on campus after fresh/soph year, moving to millbrook is a nice change, or off campus... it gives a little more distance, but is still close enough for convenience.

(When I was choosing schools, I was down to the same final decision... I'm so glad I chose washu, I couldn't have been happier there!)

nice... yeah the housing system is kind of foggy... im' not sure about being so familiar with washu though..
