The freedom of the high-schooler diminishing

So, we have the tradition of the homecoming pep rally. All 1000 students gather in the gym and make the most noise possible for their class, right? Well, the last couple of years, there's been a lot of "FRESHMEN SUCK!" I always assumed this was normal (there's supposed to be class rivalry, right?), and when we freshmen would become upperclassmen, we'd cheer ourselves on and be all upperclassman-y.

Well, turns out the admins don't like the "negativity," so today they announced they're ceasing all pep rallies FOR THE NEXT THREE YEARS, as well as SENIOR PRANKS. Apparently they want the class of 2011 to have the most positive experience possible.

Thankfully, someone started a petition and around 300 people signed it by the end of the day. Maybe it'll work.

Which means you need to pick on the freshmen and the principal.

:D

I hope it works...admins need to know that stopping pep rally isn't the answer. This will just make people hate freshman more because they ruined a tradition just by being alive...grimy little mothers

Can they really cease senior pranks? At my school, they're never sponsored, and usually the administration hates the pranks.

No pep rallies?!?

As for the senior prank thing, they said basically, if they do one, they lose end of year final exam priveleges (not needing to take them if all B+ or higher)

That's ridiculous.

Besides, if the seniors in question do a REALLY good prank (like you're supposed to), how are they going to know who did it???

We're not allowed to do pranks, either. When I was in 8th grade, two girls got suspended because they put a sign up on the school billboard that said, "For Sale Due to Budget Cuts".

Also, someone supposedly baked pot muffins and gave them to teachers, but I think that one's an urban legend.

^That actually happened. It was all over the news, and a bunch of the teachers ended up in the hospital.

try to get some freshman to sign the petition to show it's all for good fun

Update: Hearsay says they ripped up the petition.
