the good, the bad, and the ugly stuff abt WLU

Just to get a better feel of what WLU is like from students' perpectives, what are the things that you guys love about WLU, and then, the things that are 'not so good' abt WLU.

the worst thread ever.

Sorry, was just kidding around with the topic. My apologies, but i thought it would be nice to know the pros and cons of WLU.

I'm sorry that I didn't answer this question - as I am the only student that stays on these boards consistently (CC makes for good study breaks), but it is just too hard to answer such a broad question - there are just too many pros.

I will give you the ugly though. While our entire campus is absolutely breathtaking and I believe one of the most beautiful in the nation, our library is just ugly in comparison. They tried to build one modern building on campus and it just doesn't fit in, that's why I never study there, I prefer studying in the C-school (Williams School). There was actually one more building built like that. It was the far right building on the Colonnade (Tucker Hall - then the law school, now home to many language depts). Students hated it and it soon burned down in a "mysterious fire." Needless to say, when they rebuilt it, they did it right and it now fits in perfectly.

Brief list of my favorite pros:
-Being able to leave my laptop in the Commons and not worry about it being gone
-Never having to worry about having my room key on me or having to pay an expensive lockout fee like at other schools (we just don't lock our individual rooms - dorms have swipe card access)
-Being able to take my finals whenever I want, in whatever room I feel most comfortable in (all three of these are from the Honor System)
-The friendliest people in the world (students)
-The most accessible, most caring professors in the country (I have my english professors cell phone number, and several of my friends have had dinner at professors houses)
-A caring administration (how many people at other schools say that they've had dinner with the President of the University at his house? They have a great cook too . .)
-The surrounding mountains are a sportsman's paradise
-The accessible sports system where I don't have to be a world-class athlete to be able to play my favorite sport club and just about every sport there is intramural
-Personal attention from professors (they won't yell at you for not doing your HW, but if you ask them for a recommendation, they will keep asking you how your application is going and if there is anythign else they can do)
-Amazing classes
-Spring Term!!!! Warm weather, only two classes, an easy chance to study abroad, a chance to get credit for interning in Washington or New York
-Smart, hardworking students yet they won't stab you in the back to get ahead

there's so much more, but this post is long enough as it is

Thank you Dima.

I just remembered another big pro:

free coffee at the co-op during finals!

ahah dima you're too funny :]

I'm definitely thankful for it this time of year . . . and I doubt that many other schools have it.

this post makes me so mad at myself for not considering w&l (i did ED at another school). collegeconfidential is making me wayyy too interested in other schools! why didn't i know about this place like last september?!

Yeah, W&L is awesome! I'm so happy...I'm probably going to commit soon. :-)
