The hardest passage ever...

Am I just having a bad day, or is the last passage in section #6 of test 8 of the blue book (page 865) about five times harder than all the other passages in the entire book?? I found the passage and the questions inscrutable

Did anyone else notice this?

lol I'll check it out when I get there.

lol I'm glad I'm not the only one who found that passage difficult.. I got 3-4 wrong on that one alone

I'm GLAD to hear it haha... I thought I was losing it. I omitted two and got one wrong, just on that passage. And normally on passages I NEVER omit any.

Oooohhh 1000 posts...

Oh yeah, didn't even notice :)

Ill keep that in mind when doing the passage. But hey, 3-4 wrong is near spectacular for me.

lol nice to know

Are you talking about the whole Sec. 6 or specifically the last passage? I missed one on that section but I do agree that the section was surprisingly more difficult that what I've been used to seeing. I mssed question number 11 if someone wants to explain that to me...I'll appreciate it.

That passage is just weird. The questions are terrible, too. I wouldn't call the passage hard, but after looking at the questions, I'm thinking "Where does the College Board get these things??!?!"

Well, its from a British novel...it says in the blurb.

Physics08-- I'm just talking about the last passage. The rest of the section seemed fine.

Question 11... it basically said that in his writings, Douglass talked about manliness & individualism, and how they were suppressed under slavery. The answer is D because he "evokes" men to relate to what he's saying about being manly and stuff, and then he talks about how his individualism, etc. is "undermined" by slavery. Does that help?

Thanks...yeah I was narrowing the choices between A and D but chose A because I didn't understand what D meant.

The last one I thought was alright....I mean its from an excerpt from a novel and it always will be a little harder than other passages because you're really not given much context. I've actually seen a harder passage... It was a paired passage about science and literature on an official SAT test back in the '90s.

that was easy
now the henry mulcahy one in one of the sections..omfg

Henry Mulcahy? Not sure which one you mean...

Oh yeah, browsing through the BB, I found what you mean. I thought that was kind of hard, but not too bad. I missed one question (#9). I thought the passage was difficult to read, but kind of interesting, but the questions were pretty hard.
