The High School Freshman Thread

The last point of austinj is many times the undoing of some and the formation of others.
And if HS was a social test, I certainly failed, although I have 71 weeks to change that.

walking up to people and saying I'm ____ isn't normal in high school.

I'm a freshman. I've enjoyed my freshman year academically and socially. Personally, I really don't think high school has been too different from middle school or past years. The only "new" thing is the reminder that every step I make, my choices are being looked at by college admission officers. But honeslty, I like that because it keeps me focused and willing to explore new things. Many have told me that freshman year is the year when you don't have to worry, but I've still worked hard and applied myself as I would if I was an upperclassment. I think it's important to still work hard in freshman year, even if it doesn't really count because you get in the mindset of becoming the best that will carry on in the important years

For the sake of keeping the thread alive-

Freshman are there any mistakes/regrets you have? Is there anything you think you'll do differently next year in sophmore year?

For me, I don't have any "regrets" because I'm happy with how I've performed this year, but I probably would have wanted to not take such a demanding courseload with so many classes freshman year so that I could give more focus to each class. Next year, I would change the amount of courses I take and still take a challenging courseload, but fewer classes.

I really wish I had joined more clubs--I'm only in math club.

yea i'm starting on college early so i can get the hell up out of here..academically i'm good and im trying to get into better classes next year...socially i wish i was allowed to go out more but i'm pretty involved and i've made craploads of new friends....btw "hi,i'm ___isn't normal"...but seeing someone you dont nkow hanging out with someone you do and saying "hi person i dont know..whats up" that kind of is..thats pretty much how i made all the friends i have lol

as a freshman, i think that highschool is a large step ahead from middle school. there's definitely a greater amount of peer pressure, and there is constant competition; everyone wants to run the school election or be apart of a club cabinet or get the highest GPA possible because everybody wants to go to college. well, at least that's what it's like at my school. on the other hand, I LOVE HIGHSCHOOL =)!!

I am a freshman and I have enjoyed my freshmen year so far. I've been involved in extracurricular activities and I have received good grades. However, I am afraid of the years to come because I want to get all A's, but seeing as how many people are saying how hard things are going to get academically, I am a little worried. High school is definitely different than middle school. As Is47xx said, there is a lot of competition to get the highest grades in class, a lot more peer pressure, and a lot of things most people coming off of middle school haven't experienced. However, I believe I will enjoy my high school years!

Don't forget you were once a freshman.I think if you feel that way then even now you still suck!!!!!

I can't wait until next year because in my school freshmen don't have many choices when it comes to class selection. I already have my classes planned out for next year and they are definitely more interesting and seem more enjoyable than freshmen year classes. However, they are more challenging.

We hate you too!

Have you lived yet? Why are you on? They're on for the same reason as you.So i suggest you take your own advice.

I'm Ron Burgundy?

A few thoughts: regular freshmen aren't as bad as the freshman who hvae yet to finish (and in some cases start) puberty.
There's only so much you can learn about college. Learn how much alcohol you can handle now. This will probably serve you better in college than numerous academic things.
I would say get out and breathe a little. Being on here as a freshman is not healthy. You're going to have to watch the classes of 07 and 08 go through this before you do. There are certainly things to be learned on these message boards, but there's not three years worth.

I would say that one should come on the boards freshman year to get a general idea of what will come up and how to prepare for it, then go away to mid-junior year, when one can make sense of the details.

r u guys on spring break or does school just end earlier where you live?

I will begin Spring Workweek (formerly known as Break) tomorrow. Since we only have one week it is not surprising that I just started, although many people have two weeks.

i like how the boys in the senior class ('06!) actually wear BOY PANTS! (unlike emo freshmen who gross me out)

emo freshmen? here it's sophomores. Ugh, sophomores.

Where are all the freshmen? C'mon you guys we have to bring this thread back.

GO CLASS OF 2009!!!!!

damn da freshmen.

The freshmen at my school are adorable.. except when they confuse me for being a fellow freshman! I'm a senior, and my demeanor is most definitely not that of a freshman.
