The Honors College in Newark?

Does anyone know how the college campus/life are for a commuter (I live in iselin, about 20 minutes away)? I received the Newark Chancellors Scholarship and Rutgers Scarlet award which in total offer $8500/yr, however, the chancellor scholarship requires that i attend the honors college at newark in order to receive the scholarship.

I really want to study medicine/major in biology, which means that I'll have to devote my time to several extracurriculars. so the last thing I want to ask is how time consuming the honors course load is (especially honors english comp)?

I really enjoy spending time for myself lifting at the gym, going out with friends, volunteering at jfk hospital and I'm also interested in becoming an EMT, but I want to know how much of this I may need to compromise in order to maintain a good GPA and search for other extracurriculars.

thank you for your time

if it’s anything like new brunswick, you are able to choose if you want to take honors classes or not. and parking is pretty expensive in newark. around 800 per semester or year. dont remember, you should check out the site. and also if anything like new brunswick, if you are indeed a commuter, they might cut your scholarship in half or 40% or so.

honors college just means that you are part of the “honors program”. its not a separete school you go to. just you are able to take honors courses and such on and so forth.

and honors courses seem to just go more indepth. however the pros of it would be having a smaller learning environment compared to a huge lecture hall.

BUMP! Can anybody give more insight into this? Is it a good option for those looking to go to MEDSCHOOL and grad school? Thankksss
