The Hotchkiss School Q&A

@Personof2017 I don’t know. Maybe they haven’t submitted that to BSR yet? Or maybe they just won’t? I did a quick web search and found this on a PA admissions blog; however it looks like the blog hasn’t been updated lately, I just looked at it quickly: https://talkabout.andover.edu/faq/#ssat

It is probably going to be a bit harder to get into Hkiss this year since my kids report that they over enrolled last year.

@Temperantia That is true, this year’s prep class (freshman, 2020) has overenrolled by 30 students, meaning there will be less students getting in as lower mids for that class. They will recognize their over enrollment and make changes.

Not all 30 overenrollments were in the 9th grade class, some were 10th grade too. The word is that the school will manage its enrollment back down to a max of 600 over the next 2 or 3 years. So it’s more nuanced than to just assume that no one will be getting admitted next year for incoming 10th graders.

Hi, I would like to know my chances of getting accepted into Hotchkiss School.
I am a freshman who is applying for their sophomore year, and go to an American school overseas.
I scored in the 82nd percentile on the SSAT. I have straight A’s in 8 subjects, but only one B in Algebra 2 honors. My teachers really like me, so my recommendations should be well. My interview was good, and the interviewer was fairly impressed by me. Both of my essays were emotional and empowering, as said by my readers.
These are all of my extracurricular activities: Community Service (2 years)
Golf (4 years)
Singing and Songwriting (4 years)
Rock Climbing (4 years)
Public Speaking (1 year)
Badminton ( 3 years)
Model UN (1 year)
Tutoring ( 3 years)
Math Olympiads ( 5 years)
