The Hottie Conspiracy

i thought this was a post about attractive people, not politics... jees were not even in providence yet and already everyones gettin all worked up over politics... lets get back to the hotties, and off the topic of politicians, because they're all pretty foul looking, except for john edwards... albeit his slimeball reputation, he's a looker

lol fine with me kob

I'd be more accepting of the conservative economic stance if they didn't hold a racist, homophobic, self-righteous stance on social issues.

When Bush goes on TV and tells me that I can't marry the person I love, I lose all respect for him. Then, when other conservatives come out and say the same thing, I love respect for all conservatives.

It doesn't help that Bush started a pointless war and has let thousands of Americans, Iraqis, and other troops die for no cause. It also doesn't help that he is working to destroy social security so he can help the upper class and demolish those less fortunate. I'd be more accepting of conservatives if they actually gave a damn about people other than themselves.

bush is NOT a conservative...
he likes to destroy
hehe
kind of ironic huh

Right, he's ecologically destructive and fiscally irresponsible and his administration has launched a radical and unprecedented attack on our constitution! ;) I'm more conservative than he is, and I'm a nutty wacko feminist.

lets get back to the hotties

Again -- what hotties? I hardly saw any guys worth a look at ADOCH.

by no means do i believe that all conservatives are wrong; I actually agree with certain conservative ideas. what i am poking fun at is the eminent form of conservatism in this country right now; that is, Bush's big government, deficit spending, deceptive, slightly non-secular, world police brand of crazy neo-conservatism, which exploits human being's most instinctive fears for duplicitous ends...
...and more importantly, of course, amen kob, john edwards is hot!

Pete, you must not have seen the male track team running around in that HOT weather sans shirts!!!!!!!

Psht, what is with everyone calling Edwards hot?!?!?! He has nothing on Kerry! http://rds.yahoo.com/S=96062883/K=john+kerry+john+lennon/v=2/SID=e/l=IVS/SIG=12k5b2jfa/EXP=1115603967/*-http%3A//en.wikipedia.org/upload/thumb/2/21/200px-Kerry_Lennon.jpg Swooooooon. <3

That said, I know two not very bright people who are both really attractive who got into Brown. So maybe...

Does anybody have pictures of the male track team at Brown? It would be nice if you could share them with the unfortunate ones who did not attend ADOCH.

There's some very brief discussion of this phenomena in the context of a completely different discussion. . .

I was recently horrified to learn that selective colleges in this country (I grew up in Canada) sometimes require applicants to send in photographs of themselves. Can anyone give me any possible justification for that? I understand that you might want to know if an applicant was a member of an ethnic minority. But you don't need a picture for that. A picture simply opens the door for a whole heap of trouble. Not long ago, I was teaching a freshman seminar at an Ivy League college and looked around the room and everyone was good looking, and I thought to myself: This is what happens when you muddy the waters of supposedly expert decision-making. You are trying to pick the best students. But you end up picking the prettiest best students (which is not the same thing).

--Malcolm Gladwell
writer for The New Yorker, author of The Tipping Point, Blink

Could he mean Brown? I have no idea . . .

i never got around to sending in my pic, so now they cant say i got in JUST because of my looks.. hehe

by the way, i read Blink, i found the book to be great...but then agian, i am already intrigued by the subject.. oh well

Brown's students were neither more nor less attractive than the students at other colleges. Brown says that it likes using photos to a) remind them that there's a person behind the application and b) attach a face to the name so that if the adcom sees the person somewhere, the adcom can remember the application and say hi.

"attach a face to the name so that if the adcom sees the person somewhere, the adcom can remember the application and say hi."

And I've seen them do this, too!

yes, they come up to me and greet me by name... kinda freaky, and i said i didnt send in a pic, which i didnt, but the ad com came to our school back in november, and she remembered me, go figure

If my adcom ever comes up to me and recognizes me, I will give her hell for not answering the letters and emails and phone calls and making my second semester somewhat hellish.

My swim team coach said that they had the hottest girls swim team he'd ever seen

I'm sure a disproportionate number of uggos go to ADOCH. The real hotties know adoch is a waste of time.
