A lot of older people don't really know how much UCLA has changed in the past decade. Admissions do.

i sent in my SIR for cal last week and now after wasting 200 bucks im gonna pay another 100 for UCLA because i LAV LA~!~!~!~! i realized that if i didn't like berk when i visited it then i prob still won't like it later on and takin such a big risk is not worth it...i love everythign about ucla adn im soo excited...next step is to retract my cal sir and send in my ucla one adn yes i called the admissions office for cal and la and they said all i had to do was send in a fax to berk tellin them i dun wanna go haha soo yepp doin that tomorrow~! SOO excitedd~~!

Congratulations, and welcome to the UCLA family.

I chose UCLA over Cal.

My dad's a Cal alumnus. He told me to "go enjoy college life."

Money, lack of dorms, and location were also minor factors.

There's a good number of people who chose UCLA over Cal. The most common response I've gotten from them so far is usually "environment" or "atmosphere" or "location." Not so much academics... Cal's a bit better and a bit harder but the difference isn't big. So for most, it came down to "fit."

Well I still have not heard from Cal, however I sent in my SIR for UCLA last night... So it's a very sure thing I'll be at UCLA regardless of what Cal says.

I chose you UCLA over Cal easily. I liv ein NorCal and I am surrounded by all these UCwannaB's. ;) I didn't even apply that is how much I wanted UCLA over UCB.

I just sent in my SIR last night and I am so happy with my decision. It's all about choosing the school thats right for you and even though Berkeley has a better reputation, I know that I would be much happier at UCLA. If you are reading this and you still haven't chosen between the two, just follow your heart!!

hahah UCwannaB's lol

Westow,

More like, "UCdidntwannaBs." ;)

"If you are reading this and you still haven't chosen between the two, just follow your heart!!"

Amen to that.

I just found out that I was accepted to Berkeley... So now I can offically say I chose UCLA over Berkeley. :)

i'm curious, what are the nationaliteis of those of you who chose UCla over Berk... if i may ask

I'm so glad to see other people who made the same decision as me here! People have been giving me weird looks when I told them I was debating between Berkeley and LA and ultimately decided on LA. I'm a poli sci major and while Berkeley does have the better poli sci program, UCLA was just a better fit. I want to go to law school at Berkeley though so in the end, it might not even matter! They're both great schools.

i havent yet sent my SiR but i intend to choose LA over berkeley too... LA has been my dream school and ive been to berkeley.. it sucks.. plus UCLA has a better psych program.

i know what u mean SoCalGal87, i bet no one understands me when i say i pick UCLA over Berk. I mean, in their mind, it probably defies logic. 1) Berk is closer to home (40 min drive). 2) Giving up Berk Engineering. But I think I will like UCLA a whole lot better. Go bruins '09!

kingroger317, im chinese and yes my very chinese parents wanted me to go to berk in the begining and prestige was probably why i even sent in my sir in the first place...but yah im gonna retract my cal SIR and send in the ucla one.....cuz UCLA is better hahaha~!

Submitted positive SIR to UCLA 7 minutes ago. Submitted negative SIR to Cal 4 minutes ago.

Yup.

White male here, to whoever was curious. I don't think there will be much of a race correlation, though...

Chinese guy here as well. Parents wanted Berkeley at first, but I convinced them UCLA is so much better for me.

same. situation as shinseki12 and oojoonioo except my parents are still recovering -__-
