The "I haven't got a visit from the UPS guy yet so I'm sitting here on CC!" Thread :P

Ok, so I'm trying to really brace myself for a rejection/no UPS envelope. I remember reading an actual scan of the Olin CW rejection letter. (Anyone know where that's at? :P)

It's just that I've been reading so much about acceptances and joy, I feel like I AM going to have that feeling soon! So I'm trying here to expect the worst and hope for the best.

Okay, and is anyone think I'm posting on this forum waaayyyy too much. I swear, I'm not a freak! :P (and I use that face too much :P. Oops.)

keeping my fingers crossed for you!!
in my books, you deserve an invite based on sheer enthusiasm alone :)

ps don't worry about timing, esp if its snowy/rainy out...my ups guy often comes as late as 6.

I hate the fact that we have perfect weather today... so I can't use that as an excuse for my UPS guy. :-(

Kevin, I think we all want you to get an invite as much as we want one ourselves.

Ahaha thanks...That makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside. xP

And I really want all my CC buddies to get one as well! I mean, we're all enthusiastic enough about Olin to get on the Internet, on CC, and post on Olin's forum.

Ok, I'm going to get off now because this Interneting is unhealthy. I'll be sure to be on right away if I get anything though!

Kevin and ohno, hang in there! The day is not done yet.
Kevin, you are St. Louis area, right?

Ohno, I don't know what area you are in, but if you are anywhere west of Chicago, our weather could be causing problems for you too. O'Hare Airport canceled around 600 flights yesterday. May be the plane with your envelope was on one of them.

Wishing the best for you both!

UPS guys around the country are probably wondering why so many people are so happy to see them today.

Alas, 5:30 and no visit.

My only hope is the nasty weather we got this morning somehow affected Mr. UPS.

I got mine!!! I'm in Houston area which is west of Chicago... but it doesn't matter now anyway. YAY!

Kevin and Speaker, I really hope your UPS guy was as late/later than mine!!!

Props ohnocollegeapps and everyone else who got the package. I'm sitting here and it's 6:41 in Colorado. The UPS guy has never come past 3:00... after about 20 UPS deliveries over the years, non later than 3. So I was waiting by the door playing Elite Beat Agents to pass the time, but I finally let it go a few minutes ago. Resignation is never something I've been accustomed to, but now it's time I learn.

Well, hopefully I get accepted to my other schools. Again, I congratulate everyone who got the package... should I have done more EC's? More community service, AP instead of IB? Lots of questions but no answers.

To all who didn't get a letter today: Remember, in the email Olin sent, it actually said "We mail invitations to Candidates’ Weekends via UPS overnight for domestic students and USPS International Express for overseas students. Sadly, it is not unusual (due to things beyond our control!) that the packets don't arrive the next day." So, y'know, don't give up hope! Just keep thinking that mail sometimes sucks as far as timeliness.

Eravial08, I hope you're right because that would rock my entire month of February... until CW :P Then it becomes about a 50-60% chance (right?). I know that each class has about 75 students out of the 180 invited, but I read that they actually accept roughly 100 and expect about a quarter to accept offers from MIT/Caltech/etc.

I'll keep my fingers crossed for all of us who haven't gotten the package yet :]

That's the 1st stage of grief... Denial: It can't be happening. The UPS guy was just too busy or got stuck in traffic.
Next comes...Anger: Why me? It isn't fair.
Bargaining: If I bribe the UPS guy to give me someone else's letter and steal their identity...or maybe I can call Allison and explain why they made a mistake.
Depression: I'll never amount to anything. It's all over.
Acceptance: Their loss. I'll be just as happy elsewhere.

Haha mrego that's so true...Hopefully we'll all get to the acceptance point soon.

But yeah, like Eravial said, it's possible we just didn't get them yet...Don't let this ruin your weekend and wait until the official decision on Monday. (trying to be optimistic here).

And yes, I'm in St. Louis and really hoping the snow affected UPS...though most likely not. =/

I'm in Michigan, and I also hope the snow affected the delivery (we have about 11 inches of snow that we got the night they mailed it soooooo, maybe). But, good luck to everyone and especially congratulations to those going to CW!

Hey guys, I'm in the midwest too and really hoping my lack of a visit from the ups guy is due to the snow(Ohare was pretty much grounded, right?) Today when the regular mail came I ran out of the house so fast to get it that I slipped on some ice and slid down the entire driveway on my butt. Of course, nothing from Olin in the mailbox. Bummer. Whether rejection or acceptance, I just want to know!
Congrats to all who are invited!

I thought I'd feel sad about not receiving an acceptance, but surprisingly I am not sad.

How odd...
