The Importance of a Job

How important is it to have some kind of work on apps? I know that there's a section for jobs, and it looks bad to leave it blank...I know the whole thought behind the "don't look like you've been handed everything, work!" theory...And I believe M Hernandez says something like "leave the job section blank at your own risk" in her book about College Applications.

So how important is it?

i had this question too last year. Myparents thoguht it was a big deal, wile I thought my community service would more than compensate. I still don't think it is a big deal as long as you are active in otherways. I am against the thinking that it's bad to leave things blank and I should do things that will fit the best on my application. Yu should pursue your own passions, and that will definitley show up on yur app.
so, in short, I don't think it matters as long as you are actively pursuing other passions. I however managed to get a job over the summer, as well as accompanied the school choir during the school year. The latter I value much more, even though it may not be viewed as a "real" job.

haha, no way, I accompany my choir, too! That's awesome. Did you put that under jobs? I don't actually get paid to play...so I figured it wouldn't really count. (Even though, as you know, there is a crazy amout of work that gets put into practicing and rehearsing and whatever.)
