For all of you who have gone through it, is it true that Junior year is far more important than the rest? Do colleges even look at the first semester of senior year?

I ask this because I've sorta let myself slide this year. I had all A+'s in all honors classes Freshman year, and all A's sophomore year as well. This year, I've kept As in my 2 AP classes, but have let the others slide to Bs. Will the poor year in junior year hurt me in applying to top schools (such as Duke, Vanderbilt, Emory, Rice, or Stanford)? Will a strong first semester of senior year remedy this (I'm taking 5 APs, compared to 2 APs and 3 Honors this year)?

it's very important.
do well. ALL years are important.
but since junior year is the last year to improve your gpa and considered the year where you take the hardest courseload (before senior year) and since colleges like to see an upward trend AND it is the year of the dreaded sats and ap exams and whatnot... you best do well. :)

I'm working to get the grades up this semester, and I kinda hate that despite the fact that my GPA will still be a 97/100 (5 point bonus out of 100 for honors/AP classes), a bad junior year might screw me.

Hopefully my 8 5s on APs, SAT I and IIs all above 750, and being a Hispanic will help me overcome my slacking this year. Or will the high scores hurt me because I'm not achieving at my potential?
