AP is horse****. IB is a complete "package", whereas AP's are just exams. You can self-study for AP's and pull off 4/5's easily. Everyone should actually, since you can give quite a few AP's and save money in college with the credit.

Thats interesting... I would actually love to write papers instead of cramming.

Hey everyone!...
I missed some fun I guess...so many pages!..What happened, can any one brief up?...

APs are not just exams--there are also AP classes..not meant only to ace the exam but also to increase your knowledge.
Furthermore, there are a buttload of AP courses available in many different fields..

so is any senior here giving AP's.
I don't know too much about them except that by clearing AP's you can skip on introductory courses in college and complete your degree faster.
Can someone tell me more about registering and self studying for them.
Also what are the centres in India?

hey Isaac- just read the upper posts and you'll get it.

Why should AP classes be differentiated from classes for any other normal exam? Everyone goes there to increase their knowledge too. The only mode of assessment in AP is the final written exam, for which class attendance is not a prerequisite.

I am gonna take a couple AP exams just for the heck of it...

Because AP classes teach college level classes in high school.
And what do you mean by "class attendance is not a prerequisite?"

so when do you register for it?

AP classes and AP exams are different things
You don't get one single grade for both of them.

Oh, this one is for GreenIndian..
Sadly, my senses tell some really horrifying intuition about your future, and if I start with a single link, all will be very terrible for you to hear..
I have also heard that you are posting some really bad language out here..This is your first and last warning mate. (Yeah, you would wonder what I can do after all...well, just try and see what happens next)..
Anyway, so what if your imaginative ''ajay'' gets rejected every where..He has NDA already, which is a real pride for an Indian..

I think it's about time to register for it.....My registrar had registered for me like 2 weeks ago..

AP classes are not associated with the exam officially in anyway. The class can be thought of as a "tuition class" like the one we went for during 10th boards etc, but is in no way a mandatory requirement, which is what I meant by "attendance is not a prerequisite". You can register for the tests, study yourself and go give them without attending any class.

You don't get any grade for a class. The whole grade is based on the final written test.

Actually, you do get a grade for the class if you take it.....That is why schools offer AP classes--they are counted while calculating your GPA.

Yeah, but that's for americans where AP's are offered in the school, in which case higher weightage is given to the AP classes, similar to honours classes.. But for college credit your performance in class doesn't matter, right..just the final grade. And the final grade has nothing to do with class attendance, is what I was trying to say.

^ Yea, u got that part right.

Ah, so anyone here in India taking AP's, coming back to what Shreya asked?

I suggest registering asap for them if you wanna take em, which is recommended. You'll save a lot of cash in college if you study well and get a 4/5 :)

I wanted to take APs but the registration date passed ARGH!
