Because you already have one SAT I score I think you should take the subject tests first.

do the SAT1 in october coz that is the most important. then you can do all three subject tests in november to make the ED Deadline.

Maybe you should mention the state rank and not the national one, tetris. (I have this image of your state being full of math and science geniuses. Community conditioning!)

cheese, your school is talking about it already? Mine refuses to discuss admissions till September/October. Although I’ve thought about it, and I know who I’ll ask for one of my recs, but I JUST can’t decide on the other one! Is there any way I can ask all four of the others and then choose between the recs or are we not allowed to do that?

smartchap…I say December.

Yeah, because your first SAT score is already quite good. Unless you’re doing ED, in which case you have to get everything done by November.

In my school all kinds of jugaad is legal. I will be writing my own teacher and counsellor recommendations. They will just tick the boxes and fill in the other personal details.

I asked them in school the other day. I can get the teacher recommendations any time but the counsellor recommendation is going to be a big hassle.

Gurung, yeah, that’s pretty awesome!

@Quasi: Hmmm, so should I mention ‘Ranked 20 in Tamil Nadu in the Science Olympiad’ and tick the level as ‘state/regional’?

You can do that. That’s what I did.

tetris: Yeah. Why not?

What would you write for your own teacher rec?

OK, guess I’ll do that then.

I’m also writing my own recs:P

I’m gonna tell my teachers what I’d like on my recs :p

I loves Amherst’s supplemental topics!

They’re the same as they were last year, though, which is mildly disappointing. Oh well!

I like them because they sync with my essays :D

hey, Hi everyone. I’m new to college confidential discussion. Just wanted to ask what the best way to prepare for SAT Reasoning tests??

Acc. to me , Would it be better to have self practise and self study at home with those thick and fat books ?? OR something like going to some institutes??

Where are you from? Most of India does not even have a coaching institute. And those thick and fat books, they’re thick, but pretty dumb So don’t worry, I don’t think any of those books should take more than a week if you study sincerely.

I supposed it’s the metros which have the heavily overpriced coaching institutes…

My friend said he enquired at Princeton Review.A whopping(atleast for me) Rs.25,000 for a crash course of about 2-3 months! So,self study is the best.
