So, Mohit .. how did your app go?

hi adrivit....My app for Stanford went well.....I spent most of October on it, since it is my dream....I have also already applied to CMU, Cornell, Purdue and will apply to UCLA, UCB, MIT and RPI and UIUC soon....any other suggestions for someone interested in Engineering? Maybe I should add a few safe schools?? which ones?
And adrivit, you are applying this year too???

Hi Mohit! What schools I might advise totally depend on whether you need financial aid or not. But since you have chosen places like RPI, which do not offer financial aid(practically) to internationals, I might advise you to look into Goergiatech, Franklin n Marshall, Drexel, Penn State, Berkeley, UPenn, Virginia Tech, Duke etc. You have got plenty relatively safe ones in UCLA and RPI, considering you do not ask for aid, though I really have no clue about your profile.
Yes, I am applying this year. I will be asking for full financial aid, so my boat is entirely different!
Cheers!

Yes, coordination chem! I actually loathe that branch of chem haha.

P.S. May I suggest UMich for engineering? :)

As a safety, Harvey Mudd for engineering?

HMC is NO safety.

Hi poly!!!

Hey tetris :)

Hi polydentate,
I did initially consider UMich as well. But, I later discovered that it has a mandatory TOEFL requirement, which I have not given. Most of the others have waived the TOEFL requirement due to my 770 in CR....and by this time I am tired of Standardized tests....1 SAT 1, 3 SAT 2s, 3 APs and my boards are coming up. So, UMich seems difficult. Can you confirm whether Umich does indeed not waive the TOEFL for a 770 on CR?? Please? Are you at Umich yourself?

Yes, that's one very irritating thing about UMich in my opinion as well. I have a perfect CR score, but they're like the only college which has refused to waive the TOEFL requirement for me!

Lots of fun... well ..... i'll say its been a great academic experience and an interesting social experience but its really not a path of roses :) but i guess it takes more time before you can judge something like this.
But i really can't wait to get back home! wohoooooo! 3 more days!!!!

Anyway, for now to all my fellow Indians, let us unitedly condemn this inhuman act!
