The Indian Thread (TiT) # 17

I’m good at physical chem but the rest is really sucky.

And the IIT hype dies away once you get there, it’s a normal (often depressingly boring n drab) nothing-overly-awesome environment. And most of the students who get in would have had the success stories they write about even if they had gone somewhere else; they got in and that in itself means that they had something in them.
No other reason why GATE (masters entrance exam for IIT) isn’t as hyped. Most people, even IITians themselves, tend to go abroad for higher ed instead of giving GATE.

lol GATE, colGATE  lol

g2g folks, dinner time

Chemistry is the worst subject ever
Like EVER
Its created to destroy the lives of thousands of teenagers across the globe
Ok im exaggerating
Bur i hate chem

I love physics though
And i’m considering taking up Engineering Physics…

@Prateek-Why do you want to transfer out ? Northwestern is pretty darn good too !!! How can you enjoy the college experience if you go with a “i’ll transfer out” mentality ?

I like NU…more so than Carnegie
BUT
i can’t stand the weather…
That’s why…

Plus i want to do engineering physics…only 3 god damn colleges have it
it’s not that something is wrong with NU or Carnegie…just that they have Applied physics which isn’t really as engineering oriented as engineering physics :(

Is there really a significant difference between the two at the undergrad level?

Well…yes…
Engineering physics delves into nanotechnology and materials too…
It more of an engineering degree…
Whereas applied physics is more of a physics degree…

<– BIG CHEM HATER!!!
Can only do physical
Organic Sucks.

I can do all chem except inorganic. Bloody periodic table…

@prateek: Would’ve an applied physics degree + specialization at the graduate level serve you well enough?

inorganic? No idea. Never studied. But it needs to be mugged up so…
I’m HOPELESS
Oh, wait! I think they teach inorganic at school as well. But that’s just about 2 hours of study before exams, I can hardly recollect. It was dead in the night. I was panicking… And I saw so many reactions and properties…I think I stared at each for a minute hoping it’ll float inside my head and then…something happened…Can’t remember exactly.
Wait…I think I’m remembering…
Holds head in hand and starts running around madly

Haha, inorganic is left to us to study on our own. I never touch it until the morning of the exam and dude, I go absolutely crazy then. Physical’s cool, it’s the most conceptual of the lot.

@tetris,
How can you simply assume me to be a Nepali, when almost all of India’s neighboring countries are heavily influenced by the Indian media??

Aaaaaaaargh I was trying to be intuitive!
What are you then? Sri Lankan, Pakistani, Chinese, Bhutanese, Burmese?

Or may be from Maldives.

or chinese…lol

What neighbouring-India country has a Portuguese influence?

lemme guess…

How about Macau in China?

too good…i guess

Let’s focus our attention to asia-pacific region.

Goa has an obvious Portugese influence
