About why I accuse Edward Cullen of such things?

Well. He treats Bella like a child who has no self control and patronizes her like he ALWAYS knows best, controls her friendships (he’s dangerous himself, WHY would he keep harping on about Jacob’s danger factor?!). I mean, Bella has to SNEAK OUT to see Jacob because she’s afraid of Edward’s reaction. He sort of treats her like she’s this rebellious teenager and he’s a wise old man. Not to mention the sex bruises. Um, hello, there’s a word for it - physical abuse. I could go on.

Don’t even get me started on Bella.

If you were talking about my “tons of guys like that” comment…lol, I don’t have anecdotal evidence, so sorry to arouse any voyeuristic curiosity.

Well, Edward is a wise old man ;)

Interesting points, Quasi. Or shall i say, PROFOUND points, Quasi. HAHHA i crack myself up.

@Quasi
But aren’t those the qualities that make Edward perfect… or… imperfect? Looks like I need to examine my idea of perfection :P

Yeah, this is what happens when you read Twilight four years ago and had your pre-teen mind warp everything around. Your perceptions get distorted.

If I re-read it now, I’ll probably see less perfection in the dude.

/my story

Well, by the time I read twilight I had passed out of my teen years  so no damage done.

Wait, so you WANT a guy to treat you like he’s a God and you’re some stupid little child who doesn’t know anything?

The way SM lingers on Edward’s qualities - like his physical perfection and his omniscience (ie mindreading) and his immortality - sort of makes ‘Edward Cullen’ another way to say God doesn’t it? Evidence of a patriarchal way of thinking - “Bella, I’m perfect and divine, so do what I tell you to mwahahaahaha!” - right there which also sort of ****es me off. And also the fact that his whole life supposedly consists of Bella - there’s a term for it. Dependant personality disorder. And he’s BORING. I don’t want a relationship in which all that we do is smell each other and say, “You are my life now.” I’d want to discuss a few other things SOMETIMES - God, even talking about the last movie they saw would have been a nice change.

Oh yes.

10char

I have never laughed so much. And no, I do not want a guy who’d treat me like an incapable kid, but yeah a mature guy sounds nice (which is a myth and which is why I read SM)

Actually…I do know a couple of mature guys!

^I want. I want. I want. I want. I want.

Grrr someone make me concentrate on reading Lawrence instead of floating around cyberspace looking for pictures of him please.

Quasi, if you don’t read Lawrence, you…err…won’t do well tomorrow. And that would be bad for Amherst! :O

You do?? I have not come across a single guy who is semi mature!!!

And what is Lawrence??

D.H. Lawrence, I presume?

^Yep. He’s one of my favourite poets when I don’t have to memorize his poems for an exam.

Not a fan of his prose though.

I’ve only heard of him because he was a rather controversial character.

anyone written October SAT?

Some folks on the Class of 2014 thread.

Yeah, he basically wrote ‘artistic’ pornography.

Oh my god, who are you, why do you rock so hard. This is exactly what I think of Twilight, this, word to word. Edward is an emotionally abusive b**tard, and SM’s basically written twilight as her personal sex fantasy. Ugh.
