So, I live in California. I am pretty sure I want to live here for the rest of my life, but going to school out of state would be great, because I have been captive to Nor Cal for 22 years. I haven't taken the LSAT yet, but I am already seeing a problem. I want to practice in the bay area. I want to go to UCLA and USC, but, again, I haven't taken the LSAT yet. How are Davis and Hastings regarded in the region? How about when we go down the list a little further to Pepperdine, USD, Loyola, Santa Clara, and USF? I guess what I'm really wondering is at which ranking should I consider going to school only in California? Would going to Davis (35) be better for a California job than going to, say, Tulane (45). Other schools that interest me are Emory, George Washington, and Fordham. Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Everything below S/Berk/UCLA/USC are for the most part regional unless you are top of the class and good at networking. If you want to work in SF, I’d go to David/Hastings over Tulane.

80% of these choices, one way or the other, will be moot once you get an LSAT score. That’s the first step here. Specific school decisions happen later.
