<p>I heard that King’s in NYC has lost their lease in the Empire State Building and they have to be out at the end of the year.</p>
<p>Nothing is on their website yet? </p>
<p>Has anyone else heard this? Is it true?</p>
<p>If it is true, it is only right that they notify prospective incoming students for the 2012-2013 school year.</p>

<p>I’m going to TKC next year & I’ve been researching for literally at least 9 months. If it’s on the internet, I read it. I watched all of their youtube videos, follow the president on twitter, read through their whole facebook page, read through the unofficial facebook groups, pretty much stalked this college for months trying to find out as much as I could about it before I decided to make this huge move. I got the same letter almost everyone else got. 40,000$ presidential scholarship. I got similar offers from UNLV, Barry, UM, BC, Syracuse, etc, but the appeal of Manhattan automatically made it a top 3 choice (I eliminated UNLV, UM & Barry because I wanted to move to the Northeast to be closer to family I have in Boston) I read this thread before I went to visit, and it really made me not want to go, but they paid for me to go visit so I figured why not. When I got there, literally the 1st question I asked was about the campus moving. It is going to be located at 52 Broadway in the Financial District next year. <p>When I started telling people I was going to The Kings College, I always got the same answers, “Where is that?” “Oh, never heard of it…” or, my favorite, “What a stupid name…” but in reality this school is one of the more known up-and-coming Christian liberal arts schools in the nation. It is ranked #8 in the USA among Conservative Christian Colleges and I believe one of the top 25 debate teams in the world. You can look at their youtube page (<a href=“The King's College - YouTube”>The King's College - YouTube) and see a couple of their debates where they hosted the Irish national debate team and others. Even to a 18 year old student these debates are very interesting & thought provoking- I’m not gonna lie, I’ve pulled out statistics & points from these debates in everyday conversation & really impressed some of my current teachers lmao</p>
<p>Also, about concentrations- If you major in PPE or MCA you will have the ability to have a concentration… Honestly I didn’t even listen when they talked about it because I’m going to be doing the Business program. Sorry I couldn’t help more.</p>
<p>The school isn’t a diploma mill & doesn’t just accept everybody. My friend applied & hasn’t heard back, they are waiting for his SAT scores (He applied extremely late & didn’t take his first SAT until 5/5/12) & they told him that based on his grades (He told me he has a 3.4) that 1650 was “a good score” - He won’t find out for another 3 days if he got accepted or not.</p>
<p>When he showed me the email saying 1650 would be, literally word for word “a good score” I was kindof taken back because at the Inviso weekend, the President of the college, Dinesh D’Souza (Who if you are a parent, or just want some food for thought I really recommend watching his debates on youtube, he also has a twitter page & I believe is producing a movie about Barack Obama set to release sometime this year if I remember correctly.) said that most kids at TKC have roughly a 1950. Personally I got a 1700 so I think he might have kindof fudged that number or maybe he said the top “x percent” and I didn’t hear him.</p>
<p>Other then that though, the faculty was the main selling point for me. My admissions councilor, Luke Smith, was so helpful to me & my uncle. We randomly showed up at his office the day before the Inviso and he had meetings planned but he rescheduled so we could just talk to him. The business department is top notch, MBA’s from Ivy League schools and numerous successful publications are standard. I sat in on a Intro to Philosophy class & just hearing the interaction the students had with the professor made me realize this was the place for me. You could tell these kids came from solid backgrounds & took school seriously. Also the financial aid department was very understanding of my situation and gave me another roughly 6,000 in scholarship money, bringing my financial package to just under 35,000 :).</p>
<p>I’m probably too late in replying to actually impact you & your childs decision for the fall, but to anyone else in the future considering Kings- you need to visit to know if it’s really what you want. Bring a parent so they can confirm everything. Personally I brought my uncle who served 30 years in the military & has went to some of the best colleges all around the world so I knew he could tell me if it was legit or not. He fell in love with the school & after 1 hour of being at the visit weekend he put down my enrollment deposit for me, haha.</p>
<p>Edit: Also, some people who posted earlier were saying it’s extremely small with only 200 or 300 students. They have a FULL (~250) class of freshman coming in next year, we actually reserved one of the last spots. So there is going to be about 600 students next year. But is that really a bad thing? It’s Manhattan… When Mr. D’Souza spoke at the inviso he said he envisioned the college growing rapidly to about 1000 -1200 students and staying there. He doesn’t want it to be huge, or at least that’s what he’s saying at the moment. Small class sizes aren’t something to put down either, having a 14:1 student:faculty ratio is probably as good as you’re going to get & I think people are forgetting to mention there’s literally millions upon millions of people in Manhattan, it’s not like we’re going to the middle of a corn field with just us. You should WANT the school to be small & personal (at least in my opinion) </p>

<p>Good Luck…you know that both the women’s rental apartments and the men’s rental dorms are now quite a distance from where the school has moved…the men’s dorm has only one kitchen for the entire dorm building (which includes the School of Visual Arts and Baruch College). They are also not anywhere near each other…I read the Empire Tribune’s Article that stated the school was unsuccessful in acquiring any new rental apartments in the area where the school moved…why would a school that is “growing” only get rental space with 12 classrooms and cannot get any more apartment rentals for new students? Many of these reasons is why we chose not to apply…While everyone was extremely nice to my son when he called…the information he received was not complete…these folks tend to bolster themselves to be selective and top notch yet they leave out important details which could be construed as negative publicity towards the school…also I hope you read that 32 percent leave this school after the first year…good luck hope you have a large budget to eat out ALL of your meals as their is no dining plan</p>

I am a senior at The King’s College. College accreditation is very important to me and was a factor in my college-making decision. Thankfully, The King’s College has full regional accreditation. We are accredited by Middle States Accreditation: the same accreditation as Princeton, NYC, and Columbia. If accreditation is a concern when deciding whether to visit/attend King’s, you shouldn’t worry about it.</p>
<p>King’s is a fantastic institution of higher education. Come ready to learn, grow, enjoy New York, and, rest assured, your diploma is accredited by the Middle States Commission. </p>
